Had it not been for Dr. Mattson I would have never completed college. He was instrumental in encouraging me that I was intelligent, not dull. He taught hard, tested hard, graded hare, but he was gentle and fair. He knew history and made the class interessting. I give him credit for what I became. I am now retired.

I read some of these negative comments about Dr Mattson & I can't believe it. I took Dr Mattson for a few classes. He was excellent! Inspiring! I absolutely admire him, for his brilliance & for such a great person. I took my first class from him in my first semester in college. It was because of him that I got interested in school. There is alot of reading for this class. All work is take home, but quite long. He also just rambles on and is never very clear about what he is trying to say. A fairly easy class but not really worth taking.

I found him to be very receptive to questions and contrary opinions, although he would backed his opinion with his knowledge and pointed out the differences in his and my reasoning. Challenging class, knows what he is talking about, NOT an easy A.

From day one he literally rehashed the exact sem topics over and over again. He is completely unwilling for opinions differing from his own to be heard in calss and on many occasions is down rigth rude to the students. Professor Mattson should retire!!!

His lectures we very unclear and confusing. He rambled on and on. Never really finished points he was trying to make. Rarely answered questions, usually ignored those raising their hands. Very critical about answers on tests.
