Comment:

Prof Sankey was a good teacher. His slides were confusing and long-winded. I just read ahead of class and lived on physicsplace (you get the code with your book) since that teacher is less hard to understand. The curve makes it easier to get an A but you still have to work hard. I received an A.

Comment:

Professor Sankey is so nice. He is a good teacher and knows what he is talking about. The class is hard. The tests are REALLY hard and sometimes don't relate to the lectures. All of his slides come right out of the book. There is a HUGE curve. Labs are really easy. Take notes, and do well on the labs and assignments and you'll do fine.

Okay no, he doesn't teach a chemistry course. But I came to him this morning after having NO ONE around to help me with a quantum mechanics problem, and he was able to explain it to me and work with me to help me actually understand the problem. No one else has done that and he did an amazing job helping me! It is obvious he cares about students!

This is only a conceptual class so all the materials are basically learned before. Sankey is not bad, he follows the book closely. Exams are the only challenge thing in this course, but labs and report grades can pull you up. Most of the class got A or B. Good class to choose for a SQ!

The good news is that if you are at least halfway smart, you'll get an A; Unfortunately, not only do you not learn anything because his teaching styles suck but there are things on the test that he doesn't teach. He has this huge curve where like a C+ is an A; so just show up to class, do the homework, and you'll get a good grade (B at lowest)

I appreciate the enthusiasm that Prof. Sankey brought to the classroom. I also am confident in his knowledge of the course material. However, he simply was not good at teaching. His lectures were not clear, his tests were difficult and largely unrelated to class material, his labs were irrelevant, and he often was more confuisng than helpful.

This professor was a great guy. Very funny, cares about his class and students, easy to understand. Only downfall is that if you have trouble with the subject to begin with, you can get confused very quickly. Must pay attention and study.

wow he is terrible He presents his notes literally with just pictures from the book and tries to explain it but makes no sense what so ever Plus he is boring so you cant pay attention anyways Oh and almost everyone in the class failed every test I have a 3.7 and I failed all 4 of his tests b/c he doesnt teach anything on tests and gives no examples

Ya this teacher sucks. He is extremely boring and unclear in lectures Goes off on tangents and just rambles about useless stuff What he teaches in class doesnt show up on tests. If you want a good grade read the book and do all the practice problems What is expected in labs is unclear also. The tests are hard Avg grade on tests are a D and no curve

awful teacher.lectures are absolutely pointless and dont teach you anything. he is wierd and gets off track easily. His tests are outrageous and don't follow your notes at all. He claims he helps you on them but i have yet to see that. i find the TAs to be much more helpful than him. overall if you can i would avoid him.

be suspicious about trusting these comments, on his website this proffesor states he reads his reviews and very well may be reviewing himself, see if you can figure out something thats different about these comments than the ones on any other teacher

I am not a physics person, but I really did enjoy this class. Mr. Sankey's enthusiasm for his subject is infectious, and the amount of trouble he goes to for in-class demonstrations is amazing. Would recommend to anyone, easily best physics professor on campus.

Best Physics teacher at ASU. Tests are horrible but as long as long as they are near a 60% you'll be fine. The curve is extreme.

VERY hard class if you do not have much experience with physics prior to it. Sankey is by far the best lecturer I've had but his tests are torture. HW consists of 12 assignments with around 16-20 questions per and is from Mastering Physics. If you HAVE to take physics I would recomend this teacher.
