The class is definitely tough. It is not for someone who does not appreciate geography and it is definitely not for someone who is looking for an easy A. I found his methods to be unconventional and bizarre at times but his enthusiasm was infectious as well as his love for geography. By far one of my favorite professors on campus.

Best instructor at IUPUI. His methods are unorthodox, but most certainly welcome. He departs from the standard lecture methods and is genuinely interested in what you think. In place of midterms and finals you will be expected to complete projects, which are fun and relative. He tries to avoid "sucking up all the oxygen in the room"...

From 100 to 400 level classes Owen is an excellent professor. Owens unorthodox teaching methods focused on independent thinking instead of memorizing reading and lectures. I would take any class Owen teaches.

Owen is a very good professor that loves what he teaches and makes you love what he is teaching. He is very upbeat and positive when teaching. Don't think you can skate through his class because you can't. He expects you to work, but you will rewarded.

Not only is he a wonderful instructor, making sure that each student understands the material and is able to interpret it themselves, he is also just a really nice guy that you can easily talk to outside of class.
