Professor Houlihan gave amazing feedback on analytical writing samples. If you take his feedback and apply it, you will get good grades. He was funny, easy going, and a very enjoyable professor. His grading could be harsh, but again, apply the feedback and you will be gold.

I cannot say enough about Houlihan. He made me a better writer in the short time that I had him as a professor for Analytic and Argumentative Writing (ENG 1102). He knows his stuff and he cares about his students. He will find your mistakes and weaknesses and he is not afraid to mark up your paper with a red pen! It is for your own good though:)

This class requires a lot of reading which is used throughout the entire course. You are expected to read the readings in order to discuss it before writing essays. After an essay is submitted he takes the time to include notes and feedback, suggestions, includes your strong points, and what needs to be worked on. Great class and professor.

He's a good professor and gives great feedback on your papers. However, I didn't like the inconsistent hw schedule. Some assignments were due on Thursday nights on certain weeks and most others were due on Sunday night. Although, he was more than willing to correct the issue by giving me credit for the first week that I missed a deadline. Recommend

Houlihan is very passionate and helpful, however I am not a good writer and I felt discouraged to write a good majority of the class. Too much criticism and made me feel bad for not being an expert!!! I would recommend the class if you are an adequate writer and need slight improvement. Lots of papers and assignements

I thought Mr. Houlihan was a really nice and respectful guy. He gives good feedback on the papers you turn in. The one thing I could not stand about this class was that for his lectures we would watch videos of him teaching, so instead of him teaching in front of class we would watch a video of him speaking. After watching a few they get boring!

Very passionate about the subject. Encourages to broaden your horizons. There are a lot of assignments, but he'd rather take them late than never, and they really are the point of the class. There's never any busy work.

This is a demanding class, be prepared to write papers galore! He is a great professor who teaches you great writing skills. Hard to appreciate until you see how much improvement you have made. Professionals need awesome writing skills, this is what you will learn from Professor Houlihan. Don't miss class if you're a terrible writer!

Took Eng1101 online. He is strict with his grading and sticking to every question in the prompt. Doubt i will take a class by him again. Personally did not like his methods. Dreaded doing english tests as well. I usually have an A in english but for whatever reason i have the lowest grade ever received for english with this class.

Patrick is a very giving and compassionate instructor. The homework sometimes involves a lot of reading, and sometimes the assignments are quick and easy. He also teaches ENG2222 (Creative Poetry)... and to have Prof. Houlihan as your instructor, you will definitely have a better understanding of the subject at the end of class than at the start.
