literally my favorite human being to ever walk this planet. stupid smart and encouraging. his paper topics are engaging and stimulating and the final paper allows you to explore pretty much anything you want. by far the greatest methods professor you could take and maybe the best at georgetown.

Professor OMalley was a really nice guy and his class was great. Only criticism is that sometimes the discussions were a little unengaging because they focused more on people who were in a specific homework group rather than the whole class. Grading was really fair, he gives good feedback but unlike a lot of other professors his gradings accurate

I took him for Methods, which was not a class I particularly liked just because of the content. He's a pretty tough grader, and there's a lot of reading for the class. He's also helpful in office hours and seems to really care about his students. Class itself isn't overly boring even though not really conversation based, but he's a good lecturer.

Best professor I've had at GU thus far. Dude is extremely caring, hilarious, helpful, and has an infinite reserve of knowledge. Although the reading load is large, it's interesting stuff that he does a great job of illuminating in class. Class discussions are a blast. Grades paper fairly, constructive criticism, and plenty of chances to get an A.

This class was fantastic. O'Malley is incredibly knowledgable, spot-on when grading essays (he types a short paragraph of advice/thoughts for each essay and grades them overnight!). He's really sweet, helpful in office hours, and just a brilliant professor. Strongly recommend you take any class with him.

He's a very tough grader, although this did improve my writing. He's very smart, but tends to play favorites and does not hide the fact. There's something off-putting about him, although I'm not sure what exactly. I would suggest looking at other English professors over O'Malley.

I took Professor O'Malley for the Liberal Arts Seminar this semester and thought he was fantastic. Although he is a tough paper grader, I believe he truly helped my writing improve. His extensive comments and enthusiasm to help during office hours really impressed me. He's also a great lecturer-- full of passion for literature and life. Take him!

The A I got in Professor O'Malley's class as a senior was the hardest-won A I have ever gotten. But all the Bs I got from him my freshman year taught me how to be an A student in my other classes. He is a brilliant teacher and a brilliant scholar. Best of the best. Take his class whenever you can!

A great professor! I didn't even get an A and I would still take him again. His class is based on readings and discussion, so if you don't read, you'll fall behind quickly. A wonderfully helpful man, I would love to take another one of his classes!

Incomprehensible professor and a hard grader. He rambles through the whole class and does not encourage students to get involved in discussions. Egomaniac, and boring. There are tons of professors who are smarter and more enjoyable.

Best professor that I have ever had. Great guy to talk to about whatever in between classes. He got his BA from Harvard in Chemistry, then a PhD in English. He knows just about everything. You actually learn how to read and write critically. Very, very entertaining in class. Not an easy class, but take him if you can.

One of the greatest English professors out there, Professor O'Malley defines "awesome teacher." He grades hard but extremely fair, and he's the most approachable professor I've ever had. He will stay up late grading your rough drafts, give you advice, and teach you loads. Take any class this professor teaches.

The Robin Williams of English? You never quite know what will come out next, but Prof. O'Malley will definitely keep you on your toes, and if you can hang on until the end, you'll learn a ton. Extremely knowledgeable, engaging, energetic, tough but fair, he is very approachable. Reading is extensive, and hit or miss, but don't miss out on him!
