Gulino is extremely knowledgeable and respected in his field and by the students. He's great at what he does and his class is easy to pass as long as you pay attention and do the few required reading assignments. He explains things very clearly in his lectures, a kick back class with a great professor!

Comment:
Paul Gulino is great! He's funny, intelligent, and very accommodating. If you have a class of his, try to sit close to the front because he's hard of hearing and a little quiet. Besides that, he's great and I'd take a class of his again.

Comment:
A SW prof who has never sold a screenplay has no knowledge to give. Gulino had lots of ways to analyse a movie and decide formulatically if it is good or not, but most was based off Blake Snyder. Many SW profs and pros say not to use Snyder or any other formula like it, but at least Snyder is credible. Four hours of my week wasted, if I went at all

Gulino is a very nice guy, he just is hard to pay attention to at times. I've taken several classes with him and he's fine and nice, but he isn't necessarily engaging.

Mr. Gulino is amazing. He really cares about his students and wants them to succeed Everyone who complains about him using his book is crazy. It is a great book why would we not use it? He literally puts copys in the library for us so we don't have to buy. He is professional and knows exactly what he is talking about. Best at CU.

Going to Professor Gulino's office hours was the most beneficial aspect of this class. He is always available to provide me with extra help, and his feedback significantly improved my scripts. He created a very calm, and safe classroom environment for us to openly voice our opinions and ask for assistance when needed.

Gulino is amazing. He really cares about his students and is excited by their work. Meet with him one-on-one and you'll see your work improve drastically. He's a hugely thoughtful, respectful teacher. Knows what he's talking about, but isn't pretentious or intimidating. He welcomes all ideas and can turn a bad script great with positive feedback.

Paul will bend over backwards to help you make your script the best it possibly can be. Always positive, always excited to generate new ideas, Paul has tons of experience but has never let the industry beat him down. If you want to learn the craft of screenwriting, take a class with Paul.

Teaches his book, basically. I could have just read it. Friendly, but grades on whether you agree with his assessments - so not very objective. Read his book and parrot back what he says and you'll get an A.

Taught his book. Could have just read it. Grades subjectively based on whether you agree with his opinions. Not on objective understanding of terms/concepts.

Paul is incredibly nice and helpful. I've learned so much about screenwriting and I've taken a greater interest in it since taking his class. His class is laid-back and fun, and he really understands that sometimes a creative process just can't make a deadline. He's got great suggestions and has really made my screenwriting better.

Nice as hell teacher who gives pretty good grades out. I'm just kinda torn because he seems sorta biased in terms of what you write creatively, and he never really seems very happy to hear about scripts that think outside the box.

Very good for a screenwriting class. If you miss an assignment he takes them late. Very understanding of outside work. He will read screenplays before they're due if you want input. He enjoys a good screenplay and class is fun because we read them aloud. Can really learn a lot about style from him.

Here is guy who is full of theory and loves everyone to (literally) BUY into it. But the films he screens in class are for the most part uninspired screwball comedies. Hmmm. Very difficult to engage with this professor. I don't think he would be of much use on a set.
