Laprade has a great deal of integrity and really cares about all of his students. Don't let his kindness fool you into thinking you can get away with slacking off though or skipping class. He teaches with high standards no matter where he is. I learned a lot. Incredible musician. Incredible person. Did I mention absolutely charming as well? :)

He is a clear and passionate teacher who loves music. He is confident and knows his stuff but is fine saying that sometimes he will need to check if an answer to an unusual question (not in the text) is correct. I think he made this course interesting to me although I wasn't sure I wanted to take it. Cool beans, cool guy.

He's nice. Most material is easy if you have a general knowledge of music theory. He's willing to help if you don't understand too. Easy A if you understand the material. There was no textbook when I took the course but he was in the midst of writing one. Not much homework.

I took him for Intro to Music Lit. I think he should be teaching students who love music as much as home rather then people who are just looking for diverse credits. I think he has to high of expectations for an intro class. He gives study guides for written tests but the listening can be difficult toward the end.

Laprade is a cool dude, but he expects a lot of hard work and dedication from his students. It is annoying that he thinks that his classes are our only ones and his workload reflects that.

I took his classes some time ago and the guy made going to class absolutely dreadful (Note: Except for Choir). While Laprade was a great professor overall, his being 'nice' was conditional. If you need to take his class, all I can suggest is to DO THE WORK and seek help if need be. If you don't, he'll know and he'll thoroughly humiliate you.

Even as good as a Musician i am. i cannot pass this class for the life of me. No where did i ever learn Intervals and that other crap. he just assumes the students know everything and is always fast. you get tests everyweek and i never pass them wish he would take time to figure out how much a musician knows. dont take it unless this is yourfuture

I love music, but was nervous about taking this class. My high school choir teacher at Boylan frequently complained about Dr. LaPrade, but he was actually an amazing teacher. Glad I went ahead and took this class.

since its already a decently hard subject, I think Laprade did an amazing job at making sure you understood. I think hes so kind and helpful and i can't wait to start theory with him. If you want to learn the subject eh is a teacher who will bend over backwards to help you if you want it. Plus side he made the text book too so even better.

I had PL way back in the 2001 timeframe at SRU. The "Web Of Lies" comment from back then is hilariously misguided and tasteless. A fantastic professor and an awesome human being. Give him everything you've got, you won't regret it.

Great professor. Mr.LaPrade does more for his students than they know. He is a good man, a good teacher, and a good friend. RVC sang at the white house because of him. He expects excellence, as should anyone of themselves. He gives his all, you give your all. If you aren't ready to commit to it, and better yourself, don't.

He gave all students every possible opportunity to succeed in his class. He offered bonus questions on tests and he was also very accessible to help resolve an issue.

Paul is an excelent teacher. In fact, one of the best teachers I have ever had the pleasure of learning from. It's to bad I decided to switch majors, I gave up my love for music to go for something more practical, but I also gave up the best teacher I ever had. I learned a lot from him. Hope all is well Paul.

I didn't 'get it' at first, but then I realized I was being taught as a human being, and not just as a singer or music major. We made wonderful music sound wonderful. That's it in a nutshell.

This guy rocks! He is very dedicated towards his students, especially those who are trying their best in the class. Expects a lot out of students, but he also goes overboard to help students if you show a interest and do the work in class. One of the best teachers on this campus, period. He has a dynamic personality and makes his classes fun!

Paul wants nothing more than to see his students become sensitive and responsive musicians as well as human beings. He will push you just beyond your limits and guide you into unknown territory, if you let him. If not, he won't bother trying.

Probably one of the best teachers in the music department, I found Laprade very helpful. Highly reccomend his clases for anyone with a Music major. He expects excellence with everything. He will always help you if you attendance is good, and he understandable hates late people. If you can stand his sometimes aweful puns then he is a awesome teacher
