Really interesting course and a great professor. Test questions come from lectures and the textbook, so make sure to skim through it.

Dr. Green is a very knowledgeable professor. However, her pop quizzes can drag down your grade immensely, since there are only 3-4 a semester and they count for 15% of your grade. Make sure you READ and know the details/diagrams. Test questions are quite tricky to make the grade distribution more even, so know your textbook and lectures in and out.

3 or 4 pop quizzes per semester. Biggest issue is nitpicky problems that require detailed knowledge that can't be reasoned out, just must know. What countries had a GDP>6.5 trillion in 2016? How rich is the top 6 billionaires compared to the rest of the world? One trick question will drop quiz grades to an 80. Read for detail and fact memorization

Green is such a knowledgeable professor, I genuinely enjoyed listening to her lectures most of the time. The class relies mainly on textbook use, and there are a few pop quizzes throughout the semester. The tests increase in difficult in my opinion, and you're expected to read a lot each week.

Dr. Green's class truly inspired/changed me in a way I've never experienced from other college classes, and I'm a junior. The course covers real world issues and everything is based off just the textbook and lectures. 3 excused absences, clear outline, great discussions, and you get all semester to write the paper. The best class I've ever taken!

The class is easy enough and Penny is quite witty and sassy at times. You need to pay attention in class as well as in discussion sections as anything SAID is fair game on the exams. You should also read the books as details mentioned within will be present on the exams as well as on the pop quizzes. Questions can seem opinionated; detail attention

SOC302 was one of my favorite classes I've taken at UT. You'll learn interesting and highly intuitive concepts and theories about the world in which you live, and I've found the knowledge I gained in this class to be applicable to my life in many ways. The TA's were also very encouraging and I thoroughly enjoyed going to Dr. Green's lecture.

I absolutely LOVED Dr. Green and this class! I learned so many things about myself and the world around me, and it was truly inspiring. There was reading every night, but it was engaging and interesting and didn't take very long, so I looked forward to it. The tests were a little tricky, but if you ask her about the questions, she's very helpful.

Dr. Green is in charge of Sociology honors and she has a natural gift with making research seem possible and *gasp* FUN! I always felt like she listened to me and would always let me express my ideas freely. While you do have to make sure you know what you're doing when you walk in, what you learn beyond that is a reward in itself.

This class wasn't as bad as I had heard it was. You just have to take what she says literally, a lot of people mess up in this class because her test questions are scenarios and they are easy to over think, but just remember to use only what she gives you to answer the question. Beware of pop quizzes. Need to read the book.

I really enjoyed Dr. Green's Intro SOC course, though I am a SOC major. You do use the book. Its useful to fill in notes because she doesn't do powerpoint lectures, but does give you a helpful outline. Although, you can go to her after class or in office hours She really knows how to intertwine experiences from her life with the lecture material.

This was one of the worst classes I've taken. The tests were terrible! A lot of the tests seemed to be based on her opinion and her take from the readings, so there were a lot of failures on the tests. Do not take!

Her tests questions are made to trick you so read carefully. Tests are over lecture material and assigned chapters from the textbook. Don't wait until the last minute to read the textbook because there's a lot of information. Lectures are interesting but sometimes unorganized. She provides outlines for the lectures so that can be helpful.

Her class isn't really that difficult but it's the quizzes that can make the difference between an A and a B. She drops the lowest quiz grade and doubles your highest one, but I managed to make an 80 on every 5-question exam due to second guessing myself.

Dr. Green's lectures were a bit boring sometimes but overall I enjoyed the class. The tests were not difficult and the "research" paper was easy to write and we were given most of the semester to complete it. Staying on top of reading is important because it really adds up. Take good notes and read and you'll be good to go.

Professor Green was by far the best most straight forward professor i have had at UT. All grading breakdowns are listed in the syllabus (4 tests 70%, 1 short 1-2 page research paper 15%, and a random # of pop quizzes 15%, NO FINAL and NONCUMMULATIVE) Attend lectures, takes lots of notes, always stay caught up on readings and you will be just fine!

Test heavy class for sure. She definitely tries to trick you on test questions and puts test grades in to the hundredth decimal place. Hard A to make purely for that reason. Her lectures go off on tangents and its hard to catch the important material. She pulls stuff from discussion section so you really cannot skip. Take Anthropology!

Professor Green is a really nice old lady that you can reach out to at any time. Her lecture is so well-structured and clear that it is easy to follow. However, the tests are hard and detailed-oriented. You have to catch up with the readings or you won't be able to get above 80 since lots of things are from the textbook which she will not cover.

If you want an A in the class do the readings before class and take notes (2-3 hours), take very good lecture notes, review notes with classmates, and attend labs. For exams, study all material and clear up any definition confusions with your TA or Green. The exams are ALL multiple choice. Don't be afraid to ask for clarification on exam questions.
