Dr. Moyle is pretty chill. Interesting lectures, but material isn't very well organized. It's hard to tell exactly what you are expected to know on exams (which are COMPLETELY short answer). Good and relating the concepts to real world problems, and is passionate. Lots of guest lecturers which is fun. Would recommend.

First things first, book isn't needed but an interesting read and will still help. The class is funner than most lectures and had guest speakers very often. Attendance is mandatory because of in lecture assignments given at random. It will hurt you, I would know. The ta's are helpful and he's a very good professor and extremely passionate about wfc

Such a nice professor! He includes fish art at the start of each lecture and assigns a poem project! He is a very reasonable grader when it comes to papers and the field trips are fun. Big tip: READ THE TEXT BOOK. He wrote it, he knows whats in it, you'll be tested on it and you'll do better if you read it. No reason you can't get an A!

I really enjoyed this class - the professor had guest lecturers a lot so it didn't get boring. He is also very helpful and will take questions in the middle of lecture. Never read the book and did fine on the exams! Great class. :)

Amazing professor! Very passionate about his subject and strongly opinionated. Definitely one of my favorite professors - laid-back, understanding, and not at all boring. Quirky sense of humor, has a strange affinity for the word "pussycats" though. Guest lecturers common in WFC10.

Great class and a great professor. He makes the class interesting and fun and the haikus, fish art, and field trips only add to the greatness of the course. But this is definitely not an easy A. Read the book, go to the lectures, office hours, put some effort into the papers. And if you can, take the lab. It helps out a lot with the fish families.

This class was really interesting and it was nice to have guest speakers come and talk about what they do. I thought the class wasn't very hard, except for the essays. I didn't do so well on the first one, but I talked to the TA with the second one, so I did much better.

Professor Moyle gave extremely interesting, clear lectures, and it was nice having guest speakers to shake things up a little. I didn't read pretty much anythiing for this class (it was quite easy), but it's convenient how the reader's online and you don't have to buy it for ridiculous prices at the copy shop.

The class is interesting, especially the guest speakers. The field trips are fun and the essays are not very difficult. However, they grade pretty harshly on the essays, so be careful about grammar errors and everything

Great class and great instructor. Not an easy A, though. You pretty much have to read the text book to do well and really know the terminology. I liked the paper assignments and the fish art =)

Took the class about a year ago, enjoyed it a lot. Moyle is a nice guy and knows a ton. The papers are pretty easy, and the poetry and fish art add some fun to the class. The midterm and the final were tough so be sure to study. Most lecture notes aren't online so go to lecture and you'll do fine.

He knows everything about fish, great professor, very helpful. I highly recommend his fish class to every UCDavis student even if they're not WFCB major. Take it for fun, you'll learn alot about California in general. Lab would've been good except for the TA. Hopefully she won't TA anymore.

Moyle is an all around nice guy. He is wonderfully enthusiastic about his fishes and makes lectures intereting. Grade was based on two papers, which were not hard, and two exams, which were quite hard. Go to the study sessions, they really help! Also, the lab is challenging but helpful in the main course, so if you can take the lab do it.

This is a GREAT class. I highly recommend it to every WFC major because you find out what all the instructors in the department are about from their guest lectures. It's a basic class but I still learned a lot. There are a couple of papers that are pretty tough and graded harshly (and somewhat arbitrarily) but a different TA is in charge of that.

Very nice guy, and cares a lot about the class which really helps. Made class fun and interesting with fish art and poetry. Lecture notes aren't online, so make sure you go to lecture. His midterm was really hard, but as long as you know your fish you'll do fine. Papers are really easy, but are worth a lot.

This class was pretty boring at first, but then it picked up in the second half. Moyle is really nice and tries hard to help you when you go to office hours. Essays and quizzes are harshly graded and field trips are a pain, but overall it was a worthwhile class. I learned a lot and some of the guest lecturers are really entertaining.

The stuffs on the lectures and readings are interesting, but they grade the papers very harshly. This would be a fun class if it wasn't for the papers.

This is an incredibly boring class, the guest speakers can be interesting but most of them get too absorbed and forget it is a basic class. Quizzes are graded harshly out of 10, then multiplied. TAs are somewhat helpful, but not on essays because you'll still receive a bad grade even after talking to them. Lousy field trip guides that need updating
