Comment:

Easy enough course - 10% assignment about environment but what kills you is an GROUP presentation worth 30%. It boggles my mind that there's a group presentation (of an online movie / sound + picture) in an online class. 3 out of 5 members didn't respond to my emails. Final was easy enough. Was asked about ocean / air pollution, deforestation, etc

Comment:

Very clear grading criteria and simple lectures. He is approachable, helpful, and available outside class. The textbook is for additional information. Even though it is a political science class, it is not a very hard class.

So theres always student presentations in class, but some students are super boring, others are presenting for random causes. Essay guidelines not gonna be on syllabus, deal with TA for instructions, forget corresponding by email, go to any office hours for instructions, get clear directions on essay or crash and burn.

He definitely knows his stuff and has a lot of real life experience and his class is very good as long as you do the readings! I personally couldn't find his lectures too interesting even though the class material when I read it was exactly that

Intelligent, cool and fun. He's really helpful and makes himself available to his students as much as he can. IF you miss class without a valid reason your understanding of the subject matter will be weak; THAT is what will lead to a weak grade. I would recommend Stoett for students who come to university to learn.

To anyone whining about being called out for missing two seminar: Where do you think you are? This is University and the seminars are almost grad classes. If you feel slighted now, do not do a master, you will die.

He lost his temper in class and the course load is too much. About 60 pages of essay in all for one class, and this isn't even a Master's thesis. Hard marker, terrible class, uncompromising and unfair marker. If you miss one class, watch out. If you miss two, expect a childish remark aimed at you mentioning how embarassing it is. Avoid at all costs

Here are the grades for the fall semester in 2009 0A+ 2A 1A- 4B+ 3B 3B- 6C+ 5C 4C- 1D+ 5D 0D- 9F. It just depends what TA you end it... I knew this class was not easy and it still signed up. I had Mika and she was slow in responding to questions... I survived the class and this was all I cared about as long as my grade would not suck.

Ok, this is NOT an easy elective, but you will learn A LOT if you work accodingly! I disagree that this is a "money making machine",I think ppl are just very frustrated by the volume of work... The teacher is very intelligent, i wish he taught the class in person , cause he is extremly smart. Go see him if you have questions, he is approachable.

He is good, but at the same time very proud. I had him for the honour's seminar. He was a very nice man and was very down to earth. Sure, he makes you read a lot in the first few weeks, but after that you are given a lot of breating room. I would recommend him to other students. He knows a lot about human rights and the environment.

I concur with the comment below - would complain, but he is the head of the department! He tells everybody what they want to hear, scheming behind their backs. What a loser! If this is the best prof in the department (otherwise how come he is the head), then the department is doomed.

one of the most ridiculous professors i've ever had. 2 12 page research papers, 2 one hour presentations, 3 books that had to be read in the first 3 weeks. Final was supposed to be a sit in, then was changed last minute to a 20 page paper *3 weeks to be complete*. i would complain but he is the Chair of the department.

Wow - that's all I have to say. I took his class this semester but failed due to other obligations. I have so much respect for this professor. He is extremely bright and informed. Ecoanalysis is a very important subject and Concordia should consider itself lucky to have such an outstanding and reknown professor as Dr. Stoett. PS - pronounced StOOt
