Probably the worst ECO 200 professor at Hunter College. Almost never refers to the textbook, the textbook barely helps you in completing the weekly homework quizzes. He writes sloppy notes on a projector which are basically useless. I learned more from videos on youtube than his lectures. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!

This class was so much work and the exams were EXTREMELY hard, I honestly have no clue how I walked away with an A.. I'm assuming he does crazy curving because I failed the first 2 exams out of the 3. He does offer 100 points extra credit which I did but still I would avoid this class because it was pure luck I got an A... DO NOT TAKE

This professor basically just rambles on about the current real life events but never teach. Funny thing is i actually learned more from the tutor then him and thats saying something. The only reason why so many of us passed is because of his ridiculous curve and extra credits (100 points in total) take for an easy A! otherwise stay away!!!

The homework is all textbook based, when Filer speaks in class he hardly refers to the textbook, rather he talks about real life experiences. There were two midterms and one final in his class, anything he says in class often has nothing to do with the exams. Its really easy to get lost in his class, so if you need help go to the tutoring center!

Didn't really have a guided schedule. Used a projector for diagrams and then talked to the class and rambled. No powerpoint. His homework was sometime tedious. His exam grades averages were not good but he curved. 100 point extra credit at the end (pretty much a test grade) for 10 pages of response. Very demanding A; would take with someone else.

Filer is funny and very knowledgeable in economics, he constantly relates the lessons to what's going on in the world, but his lectures don't cover what you are REQUIRED to read in the textbook. If you only go to lectures and not read, you will not pass the exams. The exams are TOUGH, tons of trick questions and there are weekly online quizzes.

He is one of the best professor at hunter. His class isnt very hard, you just have to do your work. There are quizzes due everyweek, if you dont know the answer try using quizlet. In total we have 3 exams and he curves the test A LOT. He gives a lot of extra credit too. Make sure you go to tutoring that helps a lot too.

For a 100 class, he is one of the most difficult professors! Yes he does give extra credit but you basically have to read 20 chapters on your on and its a lot of material to memorize! He gives NO notes at all. I don't know how he has good reviews because his tests are so difficult and so different from his lectures. You have to teach yourself

Professor Filer is a sweet and funny guy. The topics he teaches are pretty hard to explain but he does the best he can. There are weekly online quizzes for each chapter in the textbook that must be done. Those quizzes are graded, but the online homework is not. He gives you an extra credit worth up to 100 points. It is not hard to pass his class.

As a 100 class I found it very difficult. He does curve the class a lot so if you complete all of the quizzes and go to class once in a while you will be fine. Only reason I did well in this class was because of the curve. This a very boring class and would not recommend unless you are required to take this class.

Although attendance isn't mandatory, Prof. Filer states himself that the lectures and reading are supplements to each other. As long as you read the chapters before taking the online quizzes and exams you'll get a high grade. He also gives numerous chances for extra credit which bump your grade up two notches. I recommend taking advantage of this.

If you dont do the assigned reading, you wont know wth is going on. He assumes you read and talks about it more in dept. Dont take this class if youre not interested in econ and just want to fulfill the core requirement. Hard tests, lots of self teaching, online quizes due weekly. He is very knowledgeable and knows what he's talking about though

Does NOT use PowerPoint for lectures. He was someone who talked AT the class and not so much teach. You have to read 20 chapters on your own. Online HW was one-time submit quizzes. Exams are really difficult. PLEASE do not listen to the other reviews. This is a TOUGH, demanding class and you will definitely struggle. It's not worth it. Seriously.

Great Professor. You can tell he knows his stuff. Sometimes it's hard to find a prof like that. His exams are hard but there is a generous curve. Basically if you attend his lectures (which are very interesting at most times) and read the book you are most likely to do well in his exams. There are extra credits and chances to boost your grade up.

Great professor. Challenging class but he is very passionate and good at explaining. He's an old school professor that likes to lecture and is engaging and interesting. Attendance is not mandatory, but don't expect to float through his intro to Economics class.
