He is literally the nicest profs. Initially I was overwhelmed with his lectures because he would go off on tangents, but once you get used to his teaching style he's really great. Very fair and considerate. The labs have pretty rough TAs though...

Amazing professor, I had him amidst the uprising of the pandemic, and he was probably the most understanding professor ever. Gave us a free 10% for dealing with COVID19, and graded our final assignments very easily. Love this professor, and his passion for the subject shows and made me more interested, although he did go on a lot of tangents

One of the best and kindest profs at UofT. Lectures may seem dense initially, but he explains concepts clearly and logically which makes it easy to follow. Just attend lectures and take good notes, you'll do well. Highly recommend any course with him!

My time with this beautiful man has come to an end. One of the kindest and funniest profs I've had the pleasure of learning from. Hes the definition of a prof who really wants you to succeed, and gives you all the tools to do so. My only advice for succeeding is to go to class and listen well. HMB202 and 302 were excellent courses.

He doesn't stick to lecture slides very effectively, which is why I would 100% recommend attending class- as a lot of what he just says out loud is testable. That being said, the content is very interesting and conceptually simple if you have a science background. He is very clear verbally about what will be on tests, and follows through.

He is a good guy overall. But he speaks so fast and most of the things he talks about in class are kind of irrelevant. He seems like he has a hard time focusing on ONE topic at a time. He moves back and forth between the slides. But overall, the test was FAIR and the lectures were fine. I just wish his slides were a liiiiittle bit more organized :(

Wilson is an amazing lecturer. You can see how passionate he is about his field and is very knowledgeable. It's not a bird course, but the material isn't difficult to grasp, especially when you have Wilson who thoroughly goes through what you should know. He's not there to drag you down. He's amazing prof and would definitely recommend.

Clear lecture style and usually ends up reducing lecture material by at least 25% because he goes very slowly. Extremely unhelpful when asked about test questions and marking of exams, even when the test questions have errors

Likes to talk a lot with random but interesting stories even though you won't be tested on it. The exams were fair and the labs are fun. Average for my class was a B which is fair compared to other classes.

Everyone in my year read the his notes and studied his lectures following past year's advice. But this year he definitely crucified everyone who didn't read the textbook. The test was short answer and multiple choice. The multiple choice was around 60% textbook and 40% lecture material but main concepts were never even touched upon. gl

Jumps around in topics and throws in strange vocabulary during lectures. Unwilling to help students of this course. He also does not mark the written short answers fairly for this course.

Riveting course. Wilson's definitely an expert in histology. Lecutres are clear, though he walks around and sometimes it's hard to hear. Friendly and helpful during office hours as he can re-recite lecture material to clarify certain concepts. Lab exams are traumatizing, but you'll be fine if you study and attend labs.

Compared to many other people who rate the proff's based on their exams, I found him to be an exceptional proff, although his textbook readings were awkward, he has a demanding teaching style that really gets you engaged. Very approachable and a nice person. His knowledge in the course and the way he conveys his lectures is outstanding.

Taught the first part of HMB202. The MT was definitely weird; the MC Qs did not directly address the topics we learned (although the SA Qs did). Also, watch out for his textbook scam (he profits from sale). 2/10 chapters were needed for the MT (none for the 2nd half of semester), and he rearranged some chapters so we couldn't buy last year's book

Nothing special about his teaching. Test was very easy, if you had come to class, paid attention, and studied his notes. Would have been nice if he had told us that we didn't need the textbook in the first class, rather than just before the midterm though.

Be calm, be collected and be ready to have felt like you wasted your time--you'll need it when you want to speak to him about a test. You have to understand that he is rather insecure about criticism toward his wonderfully crafted test questions.

Same as someone else had said already. He's pretty nice, friendly, and has a caring attitude. He's very knowledgeable in the area, but his tests comes off with arbitrary questions and weird wordings. It doesn't help that he is relatively hard to reach, compared to other professors at UofT.
