Comment:

Rosemary is hard, but a great teacher if you are willing to put forth the time and effort. Easily one of the hardest classes I've taken. It is very fast paced and covers a lot of material. Lectures follow very closely with her notes, but she's been teaching the material for 40 yrs. She does offer extra credit, in fact you can earn up to 10% extra!

Comment:

The class is very fast paced and covers a LOT of material, but I wish Rosemary would tell us which parts of the chapter were important to study instead of just telling us to study everything! Most of your grade is tests, which she never curves, and there is almost no extra credit. It's not impossible to get an A, you just have to know EVERYTHING!

Comment:

Rosemary is a good teacher. The class covers A LOT of material and she holds you accountable for everything so you can't afford to miss lecture very much. Labs are pretty intense and time consuming. Make some notecards to study with and find yourself a cute lab partner (that always helps me!)

Comment:

The highest grade in our sect. was a 94%. The student who got this was retaking the class. Rosemary is a hard teacher. Exams are VERY long. 1/3 Q's are pictures, 1/3 writing short answers, 1/3 multiple choice. This class is a full load on its own. She's a tough grader. Study her notes like crazy. Best advice: DON'T take her!

When I saw the previous comments I thought that people were just lazy - NO!! She is just simply bad. I have all As, but found her to be a very bad instructor. Do not take if you don't have to.

Rosemary is a fine instructor. If you thoroughly study her lecture notes and the labs you will do well on her tests. Several people in our class have over 100%, so this course must not be as hard as the comments here would indicate. If you aren't doing well in this class, you don't have good study skills. Don't blame Rosemary for that.

She has very bad teaching style - no variation for students - boring lectures from her own notes that are on web and labs you do in the group - so other people may screw up you grade!, she talks quietly, her tests have sometimes 10+ poss. answers.Very hard grader. Stay away from her - you won't learn much and end up frustrated with bad grade.

She is the worst teacher I have ever had and I am a person who loves school and has already graduated from a top 4 year university. If you are not an A+ student, you will probably get a C, D, or F in this class if you don't end up dropping it. I hated this class and biology is my favorite subject.

Horrible teacher - do not take her. She makes her own notes, tests are crazy long and hard - put Qs that nb than her understands, and if you are not her favorite you are gonna have a hard time in the class..

Truly doesn't want or expect her students to have any type of life outside of biology. She is not understanding if students are struggling in her class. Rosemary tends to be very biased so you want to be on her good side. If you are a hard worker and dedicate most of your time to this class you will still struggle to get an A.

Rosemary is an extremely demanding teacher who prides herself on "weeding out" people who aren't cut out for upper-level jobs. Is fine with failing half the class and never curves. Useful advice: know her notes backwards and forwards. Know what the photos in her notes are and the captions for them and you will at least do well on 1/3 of every test.

Knows biology inside and out. Lecture notes are posted online. Lectures are fast-paced & detailed. Note: Her exams are incredibly difficult and her labs are very detailed. You MUST be prepared for hard work in this class to succeed. Read the text,attend class, print out lecture notes & form a study group and you will do well.

Great instructor - best I've had at BCC! But also very challenging, and has extremely high expectations. To do well in this class, start studying from day 1 and form a study group. This class may consume most of your free time, but it is totally worth it if you can make it through! Teaching style is primarily lecture.

This teacher is HARD. She combines 8 hcapters into one test with about 100 crazy questions. For example if there are 10 questions then there are like 20 possible answers she give you to choose from. Gives boring lectures, reads from her notes that she provides for you to print. Take this class from someone else!!

She is always ready to help, and this at any time.But her lectures are not very clear, you always have to read the textbook to understand the course. She has Very helpful lecture notes on her website which is much better for the students. I recommend her if you are a serious student that do not depend on what you listen in class.

She only uses text to teach. No additional styles of teaching, other materials...nothing. She teaches off her handout that you can print online, and she reads off of it. Her teaching style is geared towards only one kind of person and lacked substance, clarity, and above all didn't really care about her students' success. Take it from someone else.

Hated this class! You had to print out her rambling-thought lectures and then just follow along in class. I would raise my hand w/ a question and she'd ignore me. Her tests are nightmares! Multiple choice everywhere and to top it off you have to explain things she never taught also pictures to identify around the room that you've never seen before!
