Dr. Steiger is a great professor if youre on his good side. You dont want to argue or constantly fight with him, as that will affect your grade in the long run. Fun to hangout with outside of class, and is readily available. He wants to help students, hes not out to get you and make your grade worse. He can tell if you give a damn

Comment:

Dr. Steiger will push you to work hard more than any other professor in the MET department, and he is definitely the toughest when it comes to getting high grades. It is very easy to loose points on his examshomeworkssurface maps, etc. Despite the harsh grading, he makes you learn so much through motivation and prepares you for the real world!

I will admit that I am very thankful that the only time that I've had him as a professor is during Independent Studies, and he's a lot easier to work with in those situations.

He isn't a horrible teacher; you definitely don't want to be on his bad side. If you need help, he's there to answer questions. He's actually really nice! Just a lot of reading. The only thing I hated was the fact that he calls people at random to answer questions.

This is the second time I have had a class with Dr. Steiger. He is a great guy, and sometimes makes people mad but he is right. His lectures can be boring and he doesn't put the notes on Angel too often. The thing that ticked me off though is that I had to buy a $150 textbook for an access code that I used maybe three or four times.

Smart guy, but jumps all over the face. Very hard tests and you have no clue what to study for the course. Throws way too much material at you and expects you to pick out important things.

Dr. Steiger is very tough, but for a reason. He wants to make sure his met students are ready for the world wants out of them. He does a wonderful job of teaching us how to forecast, analyze maps, math, storms and so forth. Go to him for help, chances are you will need it at some point. He wants to help! Don't slack though, make sure you keep up.

Steiger is a smart man, I really did learn a lot in his class, but he likes to jump all over the place, it is nearly impossible to take notes. The everyday homework assignments and quizes are quite easy, but the tests can be very hard!

I haven't seen him fit the description of "arrogant and condescending" yet. I think he's a good professor. Little short with people who talk, but otherwise fine. Loves the book, quizzes you before lectures. I'd recommend taking it with him, but that's just me. Just shut up and go to class and STUDY and you'll be fine.

He makes you take quizzes before he teaches anything in the chapter, so you have to read the entire thing and attempt the quiz. Then in class, 50% of his answers to your questions are "i do not know but i will look it up" which gets annoying. leaves class if he feels "disrespected" overall not a fun class to go to at all. and hard tests.

Not really a bad class. He has a bit of an ego. Tests are WICKED difficult, class average on the Midterm was a 70. A lot of people got D's and E's. Doesn't curve. Quizzes done before first lecture on the chapter, tries to get you to read. Doesn't take to people talking in class or using cellphones well. One of the hardest Gen-Eds here.

Don't take this class. For my class, first test class average was a 62 and second test class average was a 50. Many received an E on the midterm. Not interesting unless you love talking about clouds everyday. Not recommended.

This Professor is one of the worst professors i have ever had. His tests are insane. Our Class averages for tests were rather low, but he believed that since one student was able to get a 96, the rest of the class would have to deal with their grades. He is very childish and doesn't care about your personal circumstances. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS !

Childish. Megalomaniacal. I expected more in a professor. He hates the fact that people don't appreciate wether like he does and takes it out on us. I accepted a long time ago that I can't EXPECT people to enjoy things like I do and got over it. He really needs to as well. I cannot wait to get out of his class.

Weather disasters is an awesome class with Dr. Steiger. Being a history major I suck at science, but he tells you almost everything that's going to be on tests if you just take 20 minutes and meet with him. Quizzes on some chapters so you have to get the book would be the only negative. Honestly not that hard of a class when you try.

Dr. Steiger is an excellent teacher by far. He is always there to help if you need it and he is almost always available. His tests are tough, but if you study well and go over the quizzes, they should be a breeze.
