Lots of little in class participation points, curves tests, decided to offer 45 points of extra credit at the end of the term (which in this class could pull your grade from a D to an A), very laid back. I turned in my discussion responses super late and got full credit for them. Some midterm and final review questions show up on the tests

Professor Bane's class was and easy A is you don't slack off. Online discussions were main component of grade so if you don't do them you wont pass. Test were easy since she provides study guides and as long as you do the readings you will do fine in the class

I love shannon she's amazing. The most helpful prof I have ever come accross in my school career to date. The paper is definitely time consuming at first, you get to choose your topic for the paper which is good but it just requires a lot of hard work, after spring break it got way easier, you gotta stick through it and go to her for help thats key

doesn't check her emails, doesn't provide helpful feedback. Her lectures are unnecessary. Tedious assignments, multiple things due on one night. No other ENVS100W prof in the dept apparently, unnecessarily hard grader

As long as you choose a subject you are interested in for the research paper, the class can be enjoyable. The deadlines are there to help you as long as you meet them. It is not difficult to get a good grade as long as you follow the directions. Also, ask questions and show up to class and you should not have a problem.

So much work in this class! Be prepared to spend the semester trying to keep up with these assignments. The big one is the paper, but she adds these little assignments that were not helpful, and took away time to work on the paper. Turabian is her thing, but she doesn't actually teach you how to use it. This class was just stressful.

She tells you exactly what she wants if you go to her office hours. Sometimes she even does the work for you. Do exactly as she says, and you'll get an A with no problems. I procrastinated a lot, turned things in late, and still got a B+!

Her teaching method is baselivally putting you on the spot, she'll give you take home midterms based on questions you've never seen before in order for you to get out of your comfortable spot which is pathetic. Her power points are useless for midterms and her teaching does not improve our knowledge whatsoever. Wish SJSU could kick her out .

Even though this is a writing intensive course she will try to spread the workload throughout the semester, maybe even extend the deadline for an assignment. SheĆ¢€™s a nice professor, the only problem I had with Shannon was contacting her; she responds very slowly to emails. I recommend setting appointments with her for questions about the paper.

She never responded to my emails and somehow I was doing well on my research paper and getting good grades but my ending grade ended up being low. She helped a little bit with my research paper but never told us what she exactly wanted. I wish there was another 100W professor.

Easy class, all lectures are put up online, so you dont really have to take notes, just go and listen. Quizzes on lecture each morning, but she didnt care that people used their notes, and she said printing the PWP was fine. 1 midterm, 1 final, both take home, same ?s and answers as quizzes and case studies in class. Recommended!

She never emails back. Over the summer I emailed her over 6x, (grade miscalculation) she would take a long time to finally respond, when she did it was to inform me there was nothing she could do for me. I just ended up going to the dept. chair since I wasn't getting a response from her. She is cool in the classroom but fails to communicate well.

Horrible teacher, never helped students individually and don't even bother emailing her because she will never email back. She has OCD and wants everything done perfect even though you don't understand what she wants. She also still hasn't put grades up and its been over a week. Horrible horrible professor don't take her if you don't want stress!

Lot's of work for this class, but she did a good job of trying to spread the load out. Not everyone in class contributed to the project equally, but that's always expected. As in real life, the others have to pick up the slack. She is always willing to work with students and is available during office hours and often after class to help out.

If you aren't into science, don't take this class. Shannon is a great lecturer, but she will hold you to a high standard. Pay attention to lectures and do all the assignments and you'll do fine. Oh, and brush up on your writing skills, you're going to need them. She gives alot of extra credit too, so if you're worried, take advantage of that.
