I have had this teacher twice now for two different classes (prob stat and calc 2). She is a smart lady but she makes you feel stupid when you ask her questions. My biggest issue with her is that she gives almost no partial credit on tests which is especially a huge issue with prob stat. Least favorite teacher I've had since coming here. Avoid her

I enjoyed Pisano's math class. I felt that she really does a good job at explaining the material that helped me understand it a lot better than I previously did. The first 30-35 minutes of the class is usually lecture, and the last 15-20 minutes is spent doing a worksheet with a group. Reasonable amount of homework.

Easily one of the best professors I've had at UVa so far. Anytime I've asked a question about a topic she's answered it directly in a way that's easy to understand. If you can get her, TAKE HER COURSE. Seriously, it will make 1110 so much easier.

Professor Pisano is a great teacher and a very kind lady. She really knows her material and her office hours are extremely helpful if you are struggling with a concept. She makes occasional computational mistakes in class but nothing that indicates a lack of understanding. She will go the extra mile for you if you need help!

I loved Professor Pisano. You could tell that she cared whether or not you did well in her class. She had office hours often and was always glad to answer any questions I had. Calc 2 is a tough class but Mrs. Pisano did an amazing job in my opinion. The grading is harsh in all of 1110 not just her section. I had a 3.5% curve at the end.

Pisano is a great teacher. If you DO THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS, you will get an A. I skipped maybe the majority of classes, but kept up with the practice problems and I have an A going into finals (while many are failing). Just do practice, study for quizzes and tests, and don't listen to the kids who don't do practice as they complain about failing.

If you review her lecture slides, spend time doing the "optional" homework problems, and do her review sheets, you'll do fine. I definitely recommend Ms. Pisano.

Considering the difficulty of subject matter, she does well. Not always the clearest in lecture, but is very willing to help in office hours. Go to office hours, do the extra problems, and ALWAYS ask when you aren't clear on something she says.

Professor Pisano was helpful and an excellent teacher. She made Calculus easy to understand and was readily available to help students during office hours. Would definitely recommend taking APMA 111 with her if you get the chance!

Her quizes and exams are not hard. But her way of grading is TOO weird and you just lost a huge amount of points for god knows what reason. Class is clear but boring to death.

Very nice, always willing to help, pretty fair about grades, approachable. Overall, teaches at a reasonable pace, but not always the best at explaining topics. The class is hard with or w/o a good prof, so study alot on your own and DO THE HW and practice problems she gives even though its not mandatory.

APMA 111 is a tough course but i feel Pisano is an excellent teacher, I was scared to take her at first listening to others but I feel I did great. She's helpful in class and office hrs and her hmwk quizes are GREAT compared to other teacher's requiring hmwk..trust me. I suggest you take her, just my personal opinion

It's just like AP Calc BC. Which makes it easy! But I bombed the final and still got a B+. So I guess that's good. She doesn't always know what she's talking about and doesn't always have anwers to your questions, but she's nice. I recommend another teacher if it's your first calc 2 class.

She was a very sweet woman but does not know how to teach and has the lowest test scores of any APMA 111 teacher. You do not want to have her as a teacher.

She obviously knows what she's doing, but is really not very good at teaching it. She's a very nice woman, but she skips a lot of steps and is often corrected by the class. Its very clear she understands, but does a poor job of making her students understand. All APMA 111 classes take the same exams, her exam scores are the lowest.

I took this class for a refresher after getting a 5 on the BC exam.MISTAKE!She is clueless and I actually come out of class much more confused than I came in. The only thing more astounding than her position as a prof at UVa is her idiotic quirks that end up taking away from class time.(watch as she cleans the board without looking(takes forever))

I used to love math until this class. I went from an A+ in 121 to a C in 122. Pisano is a bad teacher. She cannot teach well and doesn't give enough explanation and practice on main topics and concepts. I recommend you find another teacher to teach you math.

Ms. Pisano seems like a nice lady, but she is definitely not the best professor at UVa! She tends to make mistakes at the board that can make a huge difference in how you understand what she's explaining (i.e., putting a negative instead of a positive number.) It was not unusual to have everyone in the class sitting and staring blankly at her.
