Go to class everyday and you will pass the class easily. You do not need to do the reading beforehand, he will talk about the entire text during class and tell you everything you need to know. Extremely easy class if you just show up and listen to what he says. Taking notes is a must. The class requires no extra effort beyond this.

Professor Kogan is very passionate about Philosophy and takes it very seriously, he is very prepared for each class and demonstrates someone who knows what he is talking about. HOWEVER, if this is your first philosophy class you will find it very boring and hard to pay attention to.

Prof. Kogan is very passionate about philosophy and the things he teaches. He is an easy grader if you follow the criteria and show that you understand the material. If you miss class you will fall behind. The assigned reading is clarified every single class. If you listen and take notes his class is an easy A.

The most intelligent and passionate man you will ever meet. His religious existentialism will make you think about religion in a different way; he's an amazing professor. Everything that comes out of his mouth is inspiring and uplifting. His apartment smells of leather bound books and rich mahogany. P.S. Bow ties.

Jewish Spirituality and Mysticism was one of the most interesting class I ever took. Totally changes your views on everything. That being said, Dr. Kogan is very unclear with assignments, is a harsh grader, and often goes on tangents about other things. He is very kind and generous though. He never checks email and does not use blackboard.

Like others have said, he is one of the most interesting professors you will ever have. He is extremely passionate about the field and classes will be very interesting. However, tests can get very confusing because he'll just tell you to read ummmm..."bible" But, if you attend the class and put in some thought, you will pass.

Very, very knowledgeable in his field. And funny-always has a story for everything. Gets off topic a lot and gets behind. Says he would rather spend a lot of time really teaching one thing than skimming over a lot of things. Very interesting-love him!

he is a very arrogant man. His class is interesting but he doesnt leave much room for opinions, he talks straight through the class. He is a very extracting grader. If you are not interested in religion don't take the course because the two go hand in hand

One of the best professors I have experienced. He has an incredible grasp of the subject matter and makes it come alive. But he is also demanding as to the work you need to produce which was initially intimating, but ultimately rewarding.

I agree with the person above, i took him last year for ways of knowing and i found the same things to be true. He was very harsh on grading our midterms and we all put a lot of effort into the class and many came out with lower grade than we hoped for. He does have a lot of offer students with his vast knowledge but doesnt seem open to new views

he seemed to be a great professor to learn a great deal from, however in his ways of knowing TS Elliot class you only have two oppertunities to get a good grade, a midterm and a final paper and he grades them both very hard. Also i felt that if you did not agree with his view on the poem he counted you off for for it, even though he claimed that he

I had Dr. Kogan for T.S. Eliot and Old Testament. He is a great teacher. He loves what he does and he gives you a lot of information to play with. His class on T.S. Eliot is what made me take a religious studies minor. It's a very interesting department with great classes. You don't have to be religious or even believe in God to be interested in his classes. I certainly wasn't.

Taught me to think critically and intelligently about questions I had been conditioned to accept uncritically. Rating his classes for "easiness" seems to miss the point -- they were difficult, but making them easier would not have made them bett
