Great professor. She points out your mistakes on the homework so u really learn. Hard class but she makes it a little easier. Shes generous with the grading at first, but decline on that later on. Final is very tough.

Homework is expected to be written up like a solution manual, which is annoying at first but in the end it helps you understand the material better. Test and quizzes are open everything but the time is so limited and problems take time so you must not waste time looking stuff up. Generous grading with a very fair curve.

The professors obviously knows her topics for closed conduit and open channel flow. She has control of the class, it's mostly notes from the whiteboard and some powerpoint notes. The class is open book, open notes, open hw, open exams and no calculator restrictions. 2 exams, 1 Final, 1 individual project and 9 graded hw.

Great instructor with clear guidance on the material presented. Exams are long and test more how much you can complete in allotted timeframe than knowledge. Very slow at grading assignments. Took long to get all assignments graded this semester and submit final grades. Nevertheless the most clear instructor I've taken at CSUN.

She is nice. Her exams are alittle long and hard but if you do the homework and mostly do book problems, you should be fine.

very nice partial grader if you know what you're doing in the problem. doesn't kill you on exams for dumb mistakes, as long as you get the concept right. her curve is awesome. just work hard in her class and you will very likely get a "B" or "A" in her class. Very helpful in office hours. dont be like most lazy CE/MEs and get a C in the class.

This was the most fun class I have had so far. She was so helpful with not only adsorbent related stuff but also how to work the university. Lectures were boring sometimes but a lot of hands on stuff that made the class worth it. The most important thing is to show up. If you can do that much you should pass.

Her exams are very long and a bit challenging, but not unfair. Her curve is very generous. You can get 45-55 points out of 100 and still pass the exam depending on the class average. Go to her office hours, she is very helpful there. Her exams are open note/open book, but be prepared, since her exams are very long. Take her!

Good teacher, but an incredibly easy course. She tries to keep the class interesting and does a good job of it. The projects are pretty easy and overall ME 101 is a hard class not to pass.

Professor Beatty was a joy to work with. She teaches, she knows her stuff and she is willing to help. She likes to stick to the theory but her lectures are digestible. Plus, if you ask her for help, you will find that she is quite a dedicated professor.

Simple, understand the subject, Heat Transfer is hard and good grades can be gotten by performing the process and not getting the right answer. most of your grade will be testing. Half the class did really well and half did not. Open test, make sure you write assumptions. She's gotten alot better at teaching this subject. Take her over Sid S.!

I actually ended up taking four courses with Susan Beatty: CE 240, AM 317, ME 370, and ME 309. That alone ought to give you an idea of my opinion of this professor. She pretty much only teaches ME courses these days, so my experience might not be yours. Her lecture style is perhaps formal than others in the department, but I usually found th

The point is to keep your mind open and roll with the punches. Don't judge her style. Just have fun! Don't complain; its an introductory course. If you "lost your interests" in engineering because of this class, you were never meant to be an engineer. Bring your questions, she's really flexible and cool.

Even though I have not finished this course yet this semester, so far I have noticed that this professor is very unclear with her instruction. She will lecture for a little bit, tell you what to do, and then leave the room for 30 min while you are trying to figure out what to do. I would stay away. I heard shes like this in other classes as well

Boring, first of all and second she lost my interest in engineering. She talks about nothing for a long time and by the time she gets to the important material you are zoned-out. It was a 101 class though so she could be decent when there is something to be taught. She was a nice lady who has experience in the field and grades really easy.

She cant teach the subject because she does not even know it her self. Many mistakes in her leactures. If you are a ME student and she knows you you will likely get a C- or higher, she grades easier on ME's. Dont take her for AM 410.
