This guy is the best English professor I have had! He is fair at grading and gave us many interesting pieces of literature to read. It is unfortunate that he is retiring.

Mr. Whisnant was a great instructor. I had him for English 101, as well as Literature 250. He is a fair grader and is willing to work with all of his students. He really shows that he cares and wants you to succeed. There are not many assignments and he is always available for extra help. As for literature 250, get ready to do a little more reading

He was seriously the best professor I've ever had. It was joy going to his class. We laughed and laughed at him. You really didn't have to read the stories just go to class and listen and he explains everything. Not many papers or test. OH and he always works the grading system so everyone gets higher grades.

Professor Whisnant is AWESOME! The guy is HILARIOUS there is never a dull moment with this man. He often gives his students examples of essays that they can follow for their next assignment.. He only assigned 4 papers, very easy, and the final. I wrote my papers the night before they were due and got awesome grades. There's no way you can fail him!

Grades a little hard on papers but its fair grading. Always willing to help.I had him for 111 and signed up for him again for 112. If you ask him for help on your papers and follow what he tells you then you should get nothing lower then a B on them. You cant be lazy on his assignments though. GREAT PROFESSOR!!!!!!

Awesome professor both in and out of class. grades a little hard on papers but is always willing to give you help I made an A on the final paper and it was the only one I asked real help on. There for you all you need I reccommend getting to know him well. Good guy great teacher.

i absolutely love this prof!!! i'm taking his class again just because i look forward to it. i didn't do papers until like 2AM the day it was due and haven't made less than a 92 yet. he is entertaining and really laid back, if you need hours and don't mind a little reading and writing, take him he is great

Mr. Whisnant is one of the nicest profs you can get. He taught High School for like 30 yrs and knows what he's talking about. He really cares about his students, does whatever he can do to help and is a major support to everyone around him. This is someone who makes it a point to teach more than just English, and he does a fine job!

This guy is awesome. He's funny and has a great personality, doesn't take himself too seriously. Seems like every class period we talk about something other than Literature. Loves to talk about when he was a kid. Very easy class. Doesn't give tests - does reader response and papers. Very easy papers. Very easy A, but you don't learn much.

Are you people crazy? This professor doesn't even teach English, he teaches current events/good old days 101. If you do take Dr. Whisnant for any composition course, make SURE you write about hunting, fishing, and family values. You will not learn anything about English, with the exception of the thesis statement. Easy A,but you wont learn English.
