Your entire grade is your scores from some MC tests. He doesn't teach the material well in class, then doesn't take the test questions from the HW or from what you did in class. It's hard to know what to study or how to improve your test scores. I only made an A because he heavily curved everyone's grades at the end.

Would never take again, he knows his stuff but teaches at a graduate level with emphasis on proofs and absurdly time consuming questions on tests.

Don't take. Ever. He is the last one to make it to class and the first one to leave. He is very smart man but cares very little about teaching. No passion at all. Our class average was in the mid 60s and every other professor had an A or B average. Entire class is based on theorems and he doesn't even teach those well. Better off teaching yourself

Dr. Pate is very knowledgeable about linear algebra, but he does not explain it using examples. The class is composed of proofs and abstract. The T/F section on exams r more difficult than it may seem. The actual problems on the exam r easy. To compare: Cal3 material is difficult (got an A), but he makes this class more difficult than Cal3.

Not a good professor. Only does the proofs and doesn't work any examples. If you take him, I wouldn't bother going to lectures. You'll need to teach yourself the material anyways. No curve. Far lower grades than the other sections. Only take him if you already know linear algebra or if you have the time to teach yourself.

Dr. Pate is the last one to get to class and the first one to leave. He B-lines it for his office after every class and you have to chase him down. 3 tests and a final are the only grades. Average in my class is a D but the other classes with different profs average a high B or an A. Tests very hard and doesnt tell you what to know.

This guy knows a lot about linear algebra but doesnt know how to communicate the ideas to students who arent scholars in math. Obviously doesnt care at all. Leaves class early and is last one there everyday. Test are really arbitrary and long.

I really enjoyed Dr. Pate for linear. He knows his stuff and he's good at teaching the material. He is very clear about what will be on the exams and always has a T/F section at the end based on theorems that usually pretty easy if you study. He also posts study problems on canvas very similar to test problems. Overall great teacher!

Actuary classes are just hard - no exception, but hes by far the best professor for them at Auburn.

Worst math teacher I've ever had. Anyone who says this guy is a good linear professor is on something. Lectures are vague, tests are easy but unfairly long. He is unhelpful and even insulting in office hours. From what ive heard from friends with other professors, this guy seems to be the worst linear professor at Auburn. Scales but not by much.

Thomas Pate knows the material flawlessly. He pretty much recites the book. He is willing to help if you go to his office but not after class for he sprints out of the room. He posts sample problems to canvas that are almost identical to the test. If you do those its easy. Memorize the "facts" he tells you and do the online samples and its easy.

Only half the subject matter on the test is covered in class. Not very helpful- he is the first one to leave the classroom after class. You might as well teach the subject matter to yourself.

Dr. Pate is awesome. Really does what he can to help the class out, and lectures are pretty chill. This is a difficult subject, but interesting once you get the hang of it. Take him!

Really interested in the material. Strangely funny. Do the homework and listen in class and you should be fine. This guy is helpful if you make the effort. Great teacher, not hard, but definately for those that want to learn.

If you need help in this class... You are screwed. He is only out for himself. He is the first one to leave the classroom when the class is over for christ's sake.

I had him for linear algebra, and he was downright useless. All theorems, x, y, z...right up until the test, where you're miraculously supposed to put the numbers into the 800 theorems he rambles through in an hour
