Professor Leness is the man. He doesnt really baby you like other professors do youre going to have to work for your grade. When it comes to math, practice is the name of the game. Study, do the homework, ask questions, and youll be fine.

This class isnt impossible but its pretty challenging. He assigns lots of hw on mylabsplus and problems from the textbook, but the hw does help on exams and quizzes. There was a quiz almost every friday based on the hw, so you should be fine if you did the hw. He does focus more on the theorems sometimes, but idk if other calc 2 profs do too.

He's a really smart dude and you can tell he loves mathematics. If you don't really enjoy math and you're just looking for an easy A, don't take him. If you're a math major, he's the type of professor you want.

This class consists of in class worksheets, 3 tests and a final. The worksheets make up a big percent of your grade so make sure you attend class! He first teaches the lesson of the day and then the class gets to work together on a worksheet. His tests are hard but if you study his test reviews they are not impossible! Curves a lot too! Funny guy!

I took him for differential equations, his lectures breeze through the topics faster than you can learn them. I would never take a class taught by him again. I dropped his class and retook it with a much better teacher who actually cares about the learning process.

Just took this class got D. Did all the class work and did well on quizzes . Had C average but his final brought it down to a D. Test are hard ,final is hard 16 studentshave to retake the class now. Would not take again.

Great teacher, really knows his math and how to explain it. He is a great teacher and makes high level math as simple as it can be. Would definitely take again. But he does focus a little too much on the theory aspect compared to other professors that focus on getting the problems done without much background explanation

I took Professor Leness for Calc 3 as well and I just love the guy. His lectures are very fast paced but he knows his subject, enjoys teaching it, and speaks perfect English. If I had to take another math class and I had to choose a professor, I'd definitely choose Professor Leness again.

Guys a genius... Sometimes a little too smart to understand. I got a C in the course but I busted my ass. Try to do well on the first 3 exams because the final is almost impossible. 2 people passed the final in my class and I'm fairly certain it was only because it was their second time taking the course

He seemed like a pretty good professor at first, his lectures were very clear - but being that he's mainly into research, he will expect you to know 150% of what other professors do. Example: Can't use Laplace transformation sheet on exam. Final Exam is super cumulative and review includes stuff that was never in tests - such as applications.

Comment:

I took Thomas Leness for Calculus I & II, and Diff Eq. I would take him again in a heartbeat. Be realistic; it's high-level mathematics. It's not going to be easy, and you won't understand without effort. That being said, Leness is the most clear instructor I've ever had. He will always help you until you understand. He curves and is a fair grader.

Leness is a great guy. Lectures are brutal , have to write as fast as possible for the entire length of class. Exam reviews are similar to test but test is way harder. Wiley Plus HW, no quiz's . Calculus is a difficult class for most students. Does curve sometimes. Overall he is a good teacher. Would recommend, and take again.

Lectures are long and he goes through examples as fast as he can, leaving you only able to write down half of what you need. Gives test review much easier than his tests. Does have a nice curve because the tests are way too hard.

His lectures were very fast and sometimes too fast but he spoke perfect English and actually knew his math (sometimes professor do not know what they are talking about, you don't have to worry about that with this guy). Gives homework that is helpful and curves his test a bit.

His lectures would not make sense at times. I taught myself for the second half of the class and did better . However, he can give really great curves. No extra credit. Doing the homework and reviews help for midterms and final.

He is literally the greatest math professor I have ever had the supreme pleasure of getting in my lifetime as a student. So many examples. The curve is so overpowered, (there was literally one with about a 12 point boost) not that I needed it tho since, thanks to his clarity and endless examples I aced just about every exam. Good professor! he's an American born so you don't have to worry about accents! he explains things really well and always does lots of examples! Test are standard, but the reviews he gives are REALLY helpful.. Do all hw and study the review and you'll pass... Always curves the exams!

Comment:

Teaches way too fast!!! You have too choose between writing down whats on the board or listening. Be prepared to do most of the teaching yourself outside the classroom. Very fair test and quiz giver. Concepts straight out of the homework. I could not keep up with the work, due to the time required to learn everything myself and manage other class.
