Comment:

Great prof. Online open book tests straightforward. BUT there were a few questions where he stubbornly wouldn't accept students' arguments for why they were wrong. Made it seem like he had no capacity for logic. Most recent logic: "the preschooler not asking for help on a task does not indicate the fact that the child wants to do it herself."

I enrolled in the course for the spring semester and I am happy I did. Unfortuatley, I took the the course through DE. Once I started listening to the lectures , I could tell this was a great prof; I only wished then that I was on campus and in that classroom. His lectures are really great. I loved his humor. Thanks Dr Tom.

Dr Tom is great I especially like the stories of the mountain climbing in Canmore Alberta. His kids must be perfect and well adjusted, Logan seems to be his favorite maybe becaudse he is the youngest. Dr. Tom tells us "everyone loves a puppy"

This prof is one of the most caring profs I have seen so far. He genuinely cares about his students and makes every attempt to facilitate our learning and engage us in discussion. He always listens to the brainless idiot who asks stupid questions, and answers it without sarcasm. His tests are very fair and cover the broad concepts in the course.

Wow, what a great prof. One of the best Psychology profs at UW. I wish he taught more classes. I really enjoyed going to his lectures. He related a lot of his personal experiences to the material which really helps you remember it. Excellent class, take it if you can. A really funny and genuine guy.

He is one of the most energetic teachers I have had so far at Waterloo. He really gets into his lectures and often stirs up interesting class discussions. midterms and the exam test a broad range of knowledge so make sure you read the text. He posts the lectures online before hand and posts the audio lecture afterwards, it really aids you in study.

Easy and interesting class, but do the reading. It was a little frustrating that there were slots on the course website for marks to be reported back to students, and that they were left blank even after the marks were available on quest. I mean, why bother putting them there if you aren’t going to tell us what our marks are?

easy course. study for tests and you'll do great. dr ruttan's pretty cool and has a good sense of humor... his only fault is that he constantly calls on annoying students and then we have to listen to their ten-minute tirades. the time could be spent on course material instead.

he was an awesome prof! he was a really caring, interesting person who always kept me engrossed. he was really interested in all his students, despite having some odd, opinionated ones...and his tests were really fair. he did tend to go on tangents and class sometimes felt like a wasted effort.
