Nice lady but awful at communicating and teaching information. Especially for beginners Spanish class. Luckily this was an elective for me and I already know Spanish but most kids in class struggled very much.

Do not take a class from Professor Rave. She is highly disorganized which makes the class stressful. Additionally, I don't think she's a skilled teacher--what you get out of the class is mostly from the book and teaching yourself to get caught up. She's not good at responding to email or answering questions clearly in person. Easy grader, though.

Señora Rave was so nice! I loved having her as a professor. She will always help you when you need it and is very personable. She is always so happy which makes the class very lively. Her assignment were super easy and quizzes were too, as long as you know the material. I would highly recommend this class if you want to learn Spanish!

The class in general is kind of tough but Professor Rave is very understanding and willingly to help you as much as you can so that you can pass. She's one of the nicest people and sometimes her lectures are hilarious! I don't think that I got the best grade in the class but I don't necessarily believe that it was is her fault in any way.

You NEED the book, its where most of the work comes from. Homework everynight, nothing too hard usually just an exercise that takes up to 10 minutes. Quizzes and easy and the oral interviews are as well. Overall easy class!

Maria was a very nice woman. As for teaching, her style can be rude towards students. Her teaching style makes it seem like getting Spanish wrong is a punishment, which is not a way to learn a language. She is very kind and caring about every student. In the end she's the easiest grader ever. It's just a stressful environment which is not ideal.

Señora Rave is incredible. The class was fast paced and difficult sometimes, but she was so entertaining. Maria made sure the class was fun and always had us laughing at her jokes. She's such a lively person and is so caring. She's a blessing to UMaine.

I took Spanish for 12 years and still found this class sort of challenging. Highly would not recommend taking if you have no previous Spanish experience. Majority of the class is spoken in Spanish, homework assignments/readings every night, quiz once a week, midterm and final are both oral conversations with her, 2 group projects. No written exams.

This class was super easy, it was mostly a review from stuff I learned in high school. Really sweet lady but class was boring at times because of repetition, and anyone can get an A. Also, she spoke to us a lot in English and I wish she didn't, because that's the best way to learn.

Not a bad class if you've never learned spanish, but it helps if you have learned some spanish in high school. She teaches 66-75% of the class in Spanish, so pay attention. Attendance is mandatory with exception to 3 classes, but wouldn't recommend missing unless you have to.

This class is not for beginners. I knew 0 about Spanish before I took it and lots of people in my class had 2-5 years of Spanish and got by on that. I wasn't as fortunate. Lots of book work, lots of stuff on the computer. Good luck, it is all in Spanish. Terrible learning experience.

She is an okay person. Funny and all. But she cannot seem to understand that most of us are beginners at Spanish. Very caring teacher...gave me an A on my midterm when I should have gotten a C. So, overall she's alright...but definately study up on your spanish if you take her class. All of her e-mails are in Spanish. Google Translate, use it.

MANY students who should have failed this class recieved A's. Usually she'll give you the answer in an oral exam and then at the end she'll hand you an A. I should have failed this class for attendance (missed 10+ classes) even though 3 absensces was automatic failure according to the syllabus.

Really nice, cares about the students, pretty easy grader. Her only downfall is the insane amount of online homework she assigns. It is based only on participation, but 30 vistas assignments due one day and 45 within a week is insane.

Very nice and friendly. Assigns a lot of homework on the supersite that goes along with the book. Sometimes I would be quite confused as to what was going on in class. All around is is a decent professor.

I had Maria for 2 yrs and she is an absolutely wonderful woman. Takes real interest in her students in and out of class. Tests are not difficult and you still learn a lot! Sometimes her assignments can be a bit overwhelming--but speak up, she is willing to compromise. Check out her restaurant too!!
