Comment:

Dr. Goodnow has great classes that really make you think. One of her harder classes, had a significant amount of reading and an paper due every week. Lots of class discussion that can be very interesting if people participate. She does make you work for the grade and asks a lot of her students, but only because she believes her students are capable

Comment:

Very intimidating in the way she carries herself, but she is actually really nice and caring. She will make you stop and clarify, or she will be a devil's advocate just to make you think. Definitely go to class, the grade depends on it. Plus you need the lectures to pass the tests. The project at the end was stressful. 1-2 page paper every week.

Dr. Goodnow loves teaching undergrads. She is a sensitive instructor despite her hard exterior, her ego is fragile. If you pander to that then you will be ok. Don't call her anything but Dr. Goodnow unless you want your head taken off.

Dr. Goodnow wants you involved in class--you do that and the work it'll be cake. Be aware if you sit in the front of the class Dr. Goodnow speaks at a high volume. Also you can make any assertion you want; even if it's different from her opinion as long as you explain why. She won't necessarily agree with you, but she'll respect your opinion.

Goodnow is not a good professor. She is selfish and very critical. If you do not call her "Dr." she is quick to correct you-on the spot-in front of the whole class. She is very intimidating and highly opinionated. Told our class that she changes her opinion regularly on what she lectures on. Would not take another class from her.

Cannot recommend Dr. Goodnow. Not helpful. Spent much of the lecture talking about herself and how she is perceived, instead of teaching us. Just like any other self-serving professor. She co-taught class with other professor and my grade substantially went down. I hope I don't have to take another class with her.

Her lectures are rather interesting. Tests are kinda tougher than you would expect though with a bit of studying you'll do just fine. COMM 111 may be the easier way to do your COMM requirement but 114 is probably more interesting.

No good at all. Treats everyone like children and everyone seems to act like it. Terrible teacher for low level Comm Classes, but I hear she is much better in higher levels.

If I could take all of my rhetorical classes with Goodnow, I would. Easily my favorite teacher in the COMM Department. Her classes are structured very well and is not all over the place unlike other COMM professors. You do have to read though for reaction papers but they aren't that bad. She really makes sure that you understand the concepts.

Teacher freely admits she had a brain injury that changed her personality - she is nuts. Told story about how she got divorced and changed her last name to "Goodnow" because everything would be... good, now. 3/4 of my classmates were failing, so I chose to drop. Had to change my major because of this one bad professor. AVOID THIS ONE.

Dr. Goodnow is an excellent professor--very funny and very interesting. She has a genuine interest in her students' learning and makes class very fun. Be sure to do the reading and participate in the discussions...if I could take every class with Dr. G I probably would.

I really like Prof Goodnow, she is funny and a little goofy. I don't think she is the best teacher but she is a funny person and has interesting stories. class is pretty easy if you take notes from her slides and pay attention and read what she asks to read.

This instructor is by far the worst that I have ever seen at OSU. She claims to be teaching a class on Visual Rhetoric and yet spends whole weeks discussing the variety of impressions that the class has to a color. Not functions, studies, theory nothing scholarly, just impressions from a color. Pointless is to weak a term.

Dr. Goodnow is great. Show up to class and participate and you will be straight. When you wake up in the morning you actually can say to yourself "class ain't going to suck today." Time flies in this class and she has a good sense of humor. She grades hard but if you put effort into the class you will be good. Highly recommend.

Comment:

Trischa is really funny! She has a clever type of humor and if you are laid back you will really get along with her. She's really nice and remembers her students outside of class! Class can be hard but if you do the work you'll fair ok. I liked her alot.
