He cares about the material and lectures well. The topics can be boring for those who aren't POLISCI majors but he can usually make it easy to listen to. Some people mention an accent, but I understood him just fine. He's a no-nonsense guy... DONT use your phone or talk in class. If you plan on being late to class, find a different instructor

Professor Heo can at times be disengaged, but he is incredibly knowledgeable and cares that his students succeed. Coursework requires work, but is relatively easy. He is one of the more generous graders I've had. I regret not having taken more classes with him.

Comment:

Professor Heo tended to get off topic and tell stories about his growing up years in South Korea. It almost sounded like a typical grandparent trying to show just how soft today's generation has become. Regardless, Professor Heo was able to effectively teach the course and set expectations for the test. Instead of homework he gave daily pop quizzes

Comment:

Heo is a really intelligent guy and I could tell that he cares about his students. The material in his class can be boring, and I think he realizes it's hard for college students to relate to it, but he makes a great effort in making class a fun experience by constantly telling jokes and stories that relate to the material. I would take it again.

Out of all the professors I've had at UWM he is 1 of the few who really seem passionate about what hes teaching. I have had several "professors" that stand at the front of the lecture hall and just read off the ppt and seem like they have no real knowledge about what theyre teaching. Heo however doesnt do this. He really knows what hes teaching

Took this class online. Highly recommend. Class was 2 quizzes & a final. You had to post 200 word discussions and 1 comment on another student's post. If you did that, you'd get a 100%. Exams were pretty easy! Again, definitely take this online course!

No textbook for the course. No lecture slides. He provides articles, you read and respond. Without any outside help (lecture, powerpoint, textbook etc) it can be difficult at times if you don't interpret the reading in the same way as him, as there is no other source to reference. Exams cover facts out of those readings.

Class occasionally can be pretty boring but overall Professor Heo Uk presents himself as a competent lecturer and a clear expert in his field. The class itself is very easy if you attend the lecture. Three exams, all questions are given prior to the exam. Never used the textbook. Show up for your attendance points and the review session easy A.

Dr. Heo is a very intelligent man and if you are interested in International Relations he is a great instructor. He is one of the nation's leading experts on the US and South Korean (his home country) relationship. Sit near the front and you will be able to understand him well. His tests are straight forward and his class is pretty easy overall.

I am a polsci major and couldnt pay attention to him or class (boring and monotone). exams are relatively easy but with a few curveballs that were not relevant and he barely covered. Thick accent, gets off topic OFTEN (spend more time talking about family and korea than the class), slides not helpful, the TA was MUCH better. would avoid if possible
