Comment:
Amar is obviously brilliant, but this brilliance results in him exhibiting sheer and utter disdain for his students. Moreover, he doesn't give feedback - I only realized I had a poor understanding of Con Law when I was taking the final. Going to office hours is useless.

Amar is brilliant and his lectures are really interesting. The material is quite dense until you rewire your brain for con law. This class was definitely challenging. He does not cold call. He allowed open notes for the exam. Amar is challenging, but I also get the sense that he really wants his students to understand the material.

Amar is very intelligent. He really knows what he's talking about. But his lectures are literally just him ranting and expressing things that first year law students can't understand. He doesn't cold call nor really care about student participation. He will try to answer your questions to the best of his ability though.

His Freshmen Seminar was absolutely incredible. His is absolutely brilliant. We all would just sit there and listen to him be ridiculously smart. He knows free speech inside and out, so be prepared to know everything you could possibly want to know about the subject. I would highly recommend this to anyone who cares about law as an undergrad.

The previous comments are spot on. He's the most brilliant professor I've ever seen. He's also the most arrogant. He doesn't give a crap what students think (thankfully). He comes across as an immature, entitled brat, who always gets what he wants and only thinks about himself. But he's so brilliant who cares? Let his kids hate him.

BEST PROFESSOR EVER! He is super intelligent. Angry students should just listen to what he says in class instead of complicating things and asking dumb questions. Miss him already.

Extremely intelligent. He is always right and he knows it. Not at all approachable. He's half-way to his car by the time I'm walking out of the classroom. He never calls on people but he'll let you know when you say something stupid.

Amar is a great professor, I highly recommend him. He really knows his stuff and gets into great intellectual discussions of the material. People get laid out when they say something stupid or wrong but they usually deserve it. If you have a problem with "arrogance" then you should drop out of law school b/c most lawyers and judges are arrogant.

People say he's arrogant. I say he's awesome. In fact, if he arrogant, who cares, he's a law professor. He occasionally torches people in class which in entertaining and intimidating. Still, he's a good guy if you talk to him in person and he really really knows this stuff. I had him for Civ Pro also, he's good there as well.

Everyone seems to say he's arrogant. I totally disagree. Intimidating, yes, but only because he's very articulate and brilliant, and not because he acts pompous or condescending. He is VERY friendly and approachable. Those that have labled him arrogant probably have never spoken to him. Amar is one of Hastings' most valuable assets. Take his class!

Brilliant, Reknowned, Admired, Esteemed, Arrogant, Intimidating, Sarcastic, I had a hard time relating to this guy, he teaches a mile a minute and the subject was hard for to pick up. I was petrified of asking him for help because he is so full of himself and unapproachable. At least he is entertaining.

Very smart and thorough in his case explanations. Like others have said, he cancels class a lot and isn't very receptive to in-class questions or comments. Out of class, more helpful.
