He really does a great job at making a personal connection with each student. In just 1 semester Ive learned so much from him. I left another school to learn from Dauber. Best decision. He is freelancer for The Washington Post and beyond qualified. Very encouraging, generous with his time, he actually looked at a couple of my articles over the summer. If you want feed back ask him because his door is always open. His classes are a lot of fun. Can't say enough good things

Professor Dauber is decent. His online class is based solely on several discussions and 4 exams. He is a somewhat tough grader. He expects that discussions and responses to classmates be posted early. If not, he deducts points. In my opinion, he doesnt do a great job at giving feedback on assignments unless you ask for it.

Great guy! Very encouraging and gives good feedback on exams. The book is mandatory but its such an easy read, dont bother taking notes on it or else you wont focus on the material. He gives enough time on exams for you to go back in the book and look for the answers. Took this as a winter class and it was very manageable!

Professor Dauber is a great lecturer, but is extremely disorganized. I didn't know my official grade until the last day of the semester. He doesn't update Canvas even if he says so in class, and oftenly leaves it up to you in order to figure out the details of assignments. The class isn't difficult, but it's made harder due to his lack of clarity.

Good class. We only had 7 discussions, 4 exams, and one short assignment. He also gave us two chances to get extra credit. You need the book to do well on the exams, the ebook is about $35 on chegg. Great professor, but takes a long time to grade assignments.

Journal105 was a fairly simple class, I had a lot of fun. There is a textbook and tests on them but you can just read through the book while you take the test because its online and he allows for enough time. There are weekly discussion that are interesting and you need to participate in that. Fun class.

Professor Dauber is a decent journalism professor, his 218-1 class is moderately hard due to minimal teaching and students are left to rely on an inexperienced editor in chief who is a student just like them. Most work is left to the students. Word of advice, defend your writing and transfer to a good journalism school.

Professor Dauber was one of the absolute best professors I had during my time at LAVC. He truly wants his students to succeed and learn the basics of Journalism. He's not selfish in any way for being in the field that he is in. Dauber keeps it real and he's a very sweet person. Stern, but sweet. HIGHLY recommend! You'll learn from the best

Super easy A! Graded by mostly group discussions that are opinion based. Some tests, just 2 essay questions based on book chapters. He tells you what to study and gives you plenty of time to take the tests. Very good with communication and lots of extra credit. I'd recommend him a hundred times over!

I remember the class being pretty easy. The tests he does give are a little challenging but he gives plenty of time to finish them so it isn't impossible. The teacher is pretty laid back and is forgiving if you didn't understand something. I forgot to take a test because it completely crossed my mind and he let me take it after it closed. Amazing.

Dauber is a great guy, super nice& friendly. He knows what he does well, but the class wasn't too helpful. We never learned much in the class. If you aren't a good writer, don't expect to get the A. If you want to learn journalism, GCC is a better school w a better program. I went in loving journalism, & came out disliking it. BOOK NOT NEEDED.

Anticipated getting an A in the class, but got a B at the end. Good professor, he worked in the field so he knows what he's talking about. Great lectures. LOTS of reading. Make sure to get A's on the tests and PASS THE FINAL. Study, always study. He's very nice as well. You'll learn a lot in class. Great class and professor overall.

He definitely knows his stuff! He can be a bit disorganized but overall I enjoyed his class very much, he is one of the most inspirational professors I've ever had. Show up to class, participate. Reading the assigned chapters in the textbook is definitely a must to pass the class. Had an 8am class whim but always looked forward to it! Take him :)

Professor Dauber is a good professor and person overall. He's not too hard as long as you know what you're assigned to know and he's pretty clear in his lectures. He's also pretty funny and his energy really gets the class going. If i were to take another journalism class id take him again. :)

Recv'd "A" in Eng Grammar class (v1364) - Inspiring educator, real world experience, practical policies (can turn in assignments via email- INCLUDING FINAL), missed about 4 classes-never said a peep and made sure I knew of work assigned. Interesting and engaging speaker who enthusiastically encourages dialog between students. Overall: Excellent.
