she's a pretty good teacher overall but she's frustrating a lot of the time - sometimes she's hard to understand and otherwise she will pause randomly...doesnt seem like she knows what she's doing at times. grading is extremely inconsistent...but she's funny and fun and i guess it wasnt the worst experience i couldve expected

Inconsistent grader. She can be pretty mean. She obviously prefers students who are better at Spanish and will give you a rough time in class if you make mistakes or appear embarrassed or unconfident. Material isn't impossible, but don't take her if speaking Spanish makes you nervous.

Nice woman, and cares about her students. Will joke around with the class, and is good at teaching the concepts covered on exams. Sometimes strays from the syllabus, and her Castillian accent is a little hard to understand at first. Current events presentations take up a ton of class time, and grammar is mostly review from intermediate level.

She is a pretty good professor overall. She makes the class as fun and interesting as she can and can be quite hilarious. The class itself was constrained by the syllabus. She sometimes had difficulty explaining advanced grammatical concepts.

Comment:

Profesora Torrijos is great. Grading is basically determined by the Spanish Department's rules, but she's a reasonable grader as far as the grades that are determined by her go. She's very sweet, and really helpful. Class isn't always the most interesting, but it's pretty enjoyable overall Easy grader on oral presentations.

Torrijos is adorable and class is a lot of fun. But her grading (for ADV I SPAIN IN CONTEXT) is somewhat confusing and inconsistent. She's very nice, helpful, and accessible. However, your grade is more determined by your level of prior Spanish experience than your ability to demonstrate concepts learned in class.

Torrijos is the best Spanish teacher I've ever had. She is SO fun, knowledgable, and cares about her students a great deal (she got to know us so well she even had some inside jokes). I learned a lot of Spanish from this class because she assigns meaningful work. She is so dedicated (grades papers diligently for the next class period). Take her!!!

This class is fabulous. You do a lot of presentations and work, but it's fun and she grades on improvement and talent, so everybody has a chance. She's really easy to talk to, and it's really easy to go over time in this class and actually not notice it.

I love Torrijos. She is intimidating at first, but that is just to scare kids off so she can get a smaller class size. She is meticulous with her grading, but my grammar has really improved because of it. She also lets you correct your work to improve your grade. I definitely recommend this class.

Assignments are so vague, but everyone is in the same boat. She grades ridiculously hard until the end of the semester, when she lightens up and makes sure everyone has a good time and does well. She throws terrific parties, by the way. A very nice lady, and I wound up learning an incredible amount of Spanish in her class.
