Comment:
The homework assignments are ridiculous. You only turn in 4 the entire semester but are expected to write a page for each class. Why waste students time that could be spent on other classes? Wouldn't recommend.

You have to be prepared to think abstractly and critically about society when taking this class. Bev shows great mastery of the subject and loves discussion in class. There is quite a bit of reading and writing, but that is expected with an upper level course. Assignments can be confusing, but she was always helpful when I needed clarification! (:

She is useless. Only uses articles to teach and never gives her own opinion. She also makes you write a lot but there is never a guarantee you will turn your homework in. She takes homework at completely random times. It's also impossible to find her articles online. I would not recommend anyone take her class. SHE IS AWEFUL.

She wasn't very organized at all. There's a lot of homework and she was a very tough grader. Expect to write A LOT. The way she grades will keep you on your toes. She's a big fan of citing sources, and if you make one little mistake she'll just give you a zero for the whole assignment. Not an easy class, I wouldn't recommend her class.

Great Class but be prepared to do lots of writing all the time. I wish she was more organized, everything was practically randomly assigned which made everything kinda stressful at times. We also used a lot of paper. However she was nice and the content really changed my views on society.

Easy class.. if you pay attention, reading only needed when groups are assigned. Doesn't take attendance and puts all powerpoints online. You're supposed to read a book for the paper, but I just picked a topic I knew was in a book and wrote the paper on that. Easy class. If I went more than half the time I would have gotten an A.

DEMANDING!!! This class is not like her SOCA105 class. Lots of readings. You need to spend most of your time if you take this class. The reading materials for this class are somehow difficult to read &understand. Remember, this is a DEMANDING class and should no be 200 level course.

Great teacher...very helpful. Seems to genuinely care about the students she teaches. Out of about 200 students, she actually knew who I was, which surprised me a little. Most professors don't make the effort, but this one does.

Smith is a decent professor. Her class was easy if you just showed up each day. She really didn't make us do a whole lot. If you need an easy class to pad your schedule, take her.
