I had Dr. Brantley for both PHY 111 and 112, and he makes the classes pretty manageable. He's a great lecturer. Even though it can be boring at times, paying attention in class and taking good notes will get you a good grade. He's not my favorite professor in the department but he knows his stuff.

This class was so hard. As a non-science person, I thought this would be a fairly easy intro class just to get the GER. Very hard grader and will not help you if you are struggling and aren't a physics major. Nice man, but would never take this class again. I failed. Terrible, terrible, terrible.

Dr. Brantley is a man rated on extremes: some students love him and some do not. Here is the grit if you're taking PHY111 for pre-health: study hard, ask questions, and go to his office hours. Test are not a gimme, but he does curve (at the end of the course). However, it's not a bell curve it's a "how-hard-do-you-work/-much-you-care" curve.

By far the worst class I have taken at Furman. He doesn't teach anything that is on the test. If you can't teach yourself physics, do not take this professor. Wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy.

Was terrible about returning grades. Claimed he would bump the final grades, obviously did not. Otherwise, the lectures were convoluted and unengaging.

He doesn't teach and his quizzes are JANK! Seriously. Chemistry and Physics BOTH say: When ice melts it lowers the water level. Don't let him deceive you!! If you already know physics, you'll be fine...but if you're trying to learn, take Moffett (best in the department). Or Conrad (he's okay too).

Dr. Brantley is awesome! He is so old, but he is a fun teacher. His classes are incomprehensible but he curves everything so you end up with a good grade. Don't take him if you want to actually learn something

Dr. Brantley was a decent professor at Furman, I wouldn't say he was horrible but he wasn't extremely helpful. If you go and talk to him plan to spend awhile to get a couple of questions answered. You will need to teach yourself a lot, but the good part is he curves his grades at the end on the basis of whether you try or not.

Brantley was one of my better teachers at Furman. He didn't tech me the material at all! But he taught me to work hard. My grades said I shuld have had a C at the end of the term, but because I went to his office at least once a week to get help and showed I really wanted to do well he gave me a B+.

I thought that this class would be easy - I was wrong. I hated assignments, because I had to teach myself everything. I can't speak for other classes, but he definitely did not grasp the concept of "seminar." TOO VAGUE FOR ME

Dr. Brantley is probably one of the smartest men at Furman, however he is much better suited to be one of the higher level physics teachers rather than intro to quantum mechanics. There is no curriculum and he is completely disorganized. I suggest not taking this seminar at all costs because his lack of concentration will drive you insane.

I consider myself fairly knowledgeable in the subject of Quantum Mechanics, but if I were not, this seminar would have scared the fecal matter out of me. Dr. Brantley is a nice man, but he is a little past his prime for teaching. I would not take the class over again.

I did well in this class, but I'd taken lots of physics in high school. I can definitely see that he would have been really tough to follow if I didn't already have some idea of what he was teaching. Also, he's a pretty quiet talker, so beware taking him at 8:30 in the morning in a warm, dark room with a low, soft hum from the air vents.

Dr. Brantley, while not the most easily understood professor ever is still excellent. He truly knows what he is talking about and desires the absolute best for and from his students. He is also very funny and launches into very short, but interesting tangents, frequently singing old ballads and on one occasion throwing his shoe against the wall.

If you do not know anything about physics... DO NOT take his intro course. Comments below pretty much sum it up. No need to come to class cuz you will not learn anything. He is funny but his tests are hard as hell and they are like ten questions. We had a quiz on the first day of class... He does appear to be a genious... just can't teach an intro.

This man is a genius, unfortunately he can't teach worth a flip. It's so easy to get lost in all the information you need for tests because he does maybe 1 problem per class. He loves talking about random things in class. The tests are difficult because there is no partial credit (all multiple choice). He is very nice and willing to help though.

I had Dr. Brantley back in the late 1970's. He was awesome! Sounds like he is still the same as then: soft-spoken and fakes you out with the foggy-prof routine. He must have done a good job; I went on to get a Ph.D. from a major university!

AWFUL! Do not take this class. The course is for non-majors but he teaches it as if he were teaching to majors. One guy said we got a packet of information that he got in Physics 30... Brantley DOESN'T teach. Talks really randomly. Very senile. Isn't helpful. Only take if you have a physics background...and then, I'd think really hard about it. BAD

NOT THAT EASY. Almost ignores the book, focuses on lecture. Lectures about simple things but the test are pretty difficult, so don't underestimate them. Only info from book on tests are review questions at end of chapter, so look at them and skip the rest of the book. Don't phase out! Even though class is boring you have to pay attention.
