enjoyed the class. Great teacher and passionate about the material. Has not textbook but multiple chapter books to read and a quiz with each one. Notes are not detailed where whole lecture is spoken.

Harison is a kind guy, but not the best teacher. The class is very lecture heavy and reading heavy.

Please beware this course has lots of reading involved! However, if you read and stay on top of your game, this class is beyond easy. I started out not liking Dr. Harison, but he grew on me throughout the semester. He cares and loves for his students to ask questions and be involved. This class doesn't have a lot of points, but is interesting.

Dr. Harison's classes typically follow the same format: Students will have 3-4 book tests (pretty short), two tests (mid-term and final), and a research paper. His grading is standard, but he gives great feedback and will reward putting in more-than-average work. His courses are lecture heavy, but he is very knowledgeable and enjoys the topics.

Dr. Harison is tough in some regards, but fair, kind, and knowledgeable. So long as youre truly interested in the topic he is teaching, hes among the best at USI. Little emphasis on busy work, instead usually opting for big assignments spread out over the semester. A mixed blessing for sure, but a welcome one compared to some of his colleagues

Excellent professor. He's a thorough, makes your opinion feel valid and appreciated. He loves discussion as long as it stays relatively close to topic. He assigns a lot of reading, but it is all very interesting and does not put emphasis on dates, other than major events.

I told Dr. Harison online for HIST 122. As a student that isn't a good test taker, I struggled because tests were practically the only opportunity for points. Anytime I emailed him though, he was very nice and willing to help to the extend that he could. Maybe he's better in the classroom.

Dr Harison is one of the best history profs I have ever had. I moved and transferred to IUPUI and miss him the most. Extremely knowledgeable. Must attend class and take good notes or you will not pass. Highly recommended for all history majors and minors.

Dr. Harison is my least favorite history professor at USI. He is a very nice man, he just is very boring. His course load for any classes consists of 4-6 book tests, 2 exams, and a paper or 2. Showing up to class is mandatory, but unbearable as his lectures are like watching paint dry. I had him twice, but would never take him again.

He is a nice guy but not a very good teacher. He goes back and forth a lot. There are three book tests, a midterm test, a paper, and a final test. I wouldn't recommend taking him. I love history and was really looking forward to this class but he made me dread it. He takes attendance every class. You should buy all four books.

I have taken two classes from Dr. Harison. He is kind, fair, and easy if you show up to class. The lectures are interesting but you must be present to get the notes for tests, he does not post or email power point lectures. If you have questions, he will answer but there is lots of reading. Would take his class again!

He is a very nice man. IF you need help ask him. However, his tests were extremely hard, so make sure you study a lot, including all the minor details.

History and Film was a fascinating class, and Harison is an excellent professor. He can be a little absent-minded, but he's anxious to help so just ask. The class could be taken by a non-major as long as you have some basic history knowledge. Take good notes for the book tests, and you'll do fine.

I TOOK HIS ONLINE CLASS. THIS CLASS WAS NOT AS HARD AS I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE. A LOT OF READING AND WORK BUT A GOOD PROFESSOR. WILL HELP IF YOU ASK FOR IT. I HAD 4 BOOK TESTS, MID-TERM, FINAL, AND TWO PAPERS TWO SHORT PAPERS. HAS NO OFFICIAL TEXTBOOK. JUST 4 BOOKS TO READ. IF YOU DON'T LIKE TO READ THEN DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.

I took his online class. The class was fairly easy. Their is a lot of reading, so if you do not like to read take another professor. The quizzes are easy if you do the readings. The mid-term and final are given on campus and are also easy if you read the unit chapters. I had a problem late in the semester and he was very helpful and efficient.

I took his online class. Great not to hard. All the material on the test comes from typed lectures he post on blackboard. If you read the material you will do well.Their are also book quizzes so if you don't like to read then this may not be the course for you. Their are several books to read, but they are pretty interesting, and quizzes are easy

Great teacher!!! good person, class is not hard if you do the readings and take notes. If you are tired of advisors that get you in and out and don't like questions, do as i did and go talk to harison. Very helpful, knowledgable and WANTS to help you, helped me more in 5 minutes than all my other advisors combined!!!

great prof. I have taken one of his classes every semester almost since i started at USI, and have learned a lot. He has great taste in books, bad taste in movies, and repetes himself to no end, and repetes himself to no end, did i mention he repetes himself to no end... in soviet russia i once counted him repeteing a map location 8 times... in a row... besides that he is pretty cool...

I took his online class; if you're an upper classman you'll love it (essays are intro,3 points, conclusion). doesn't demand too much, and grades easy.
