While checking out some new professors for this semester, I decided to write. If not for my experience with Prof. M I would not have gotten into the many internships and study abroad, that she not only incouraged me to look into, but also wrote letters for me. If you have any interest in knowing something more than surface reads, take her! She will teach you how to learn the true methods of reading as well as how to write like professionally. My grade soared in all of my other classes because of this professor! Loved the lectures, great works, loved her! Great professor!

Comment:

Robbin is a terrible professor. She expects you to parrot her opinions that she herself parrots from other works, including SparkNotes. One easy exam, 3 hard papers. She'll go out of her way to insult your writing style if you mess up and she's very loud and mean in lecture. Get out while you still can!

One of the best classes I took this semester. Even though she's a tough teacher, she made the class extremely interesting. If you intend to major in English I highly recommend her. I learned more from her than any other professor so far.

If you are serious about being an English major take this professor. Awesome literature, she includes some really interesting poets. Awesome class. This professor is the real deal, so go to class and do well b/c she offers internships opportunities to her students!

Although she gives a lot of work, I feel that I came out as a much better writer. She is always willing to help, especially if you go to her office hours. Very knowledgeable about a wide range of things. Work hard and you will be rewarded. I would highly recommend this class!

I took her modern poetry class and for it not being a W class, we wrote at least 5 essays as well as 1 page paper on each poet, and we did at least 20. She expects a lot from her students and expects us to have the intelligence as literary critics. Her class was interesting and she knew what she was talking about but gave as much work as a W course

This lady definitely knows her stuff. She was very interesting and your writing will greatly improve if you pay attention. If you don't love english do not take this class because you'll hate it. If you're willing to work really hard, this class is definitely worth it.

I agree that this was my favorite class at UConn. It was great to have a teacher who knew her material and made you want to come to class. She also helps you become a great writer, an aspect of her teaching that made writing papers easier. I loved this class, and now feel comfortable about making arguments for any class.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HER. She gives a RIDICULOUS amount of work for a 100 level course, a paper due every class, including readings. She does not welcome opinions and goes by her own "MLA" format. She gives arbitrary grades, and is extremely biased. If you miss a class and the notes, youre in big trouble. save yourself and don't take this.

she was a great, always willing to help her students. She taught the class about poets that others teachers would have never have touched. She fights every year with the english dept. to teach this class and she is an excellent professor!I highly reccomend her ! You will learn alot from her...caution does give alot of hard writing assignments!
