This class is not quite as daunting as everyone makes it seem. The text book for this class is absolutely amazing, utilize it! Dr. Holland's exams are not that bad if you do the proper studying. READ THE BOOK. Studying well in advance is crucial. Sherri Gunasekera is an amazing lab instructor! Very kind, pleasant, and helpful. Best of luck.

She's honestly the worst professor I've ever had, actually I wouldn't even call her a professor because she teaches you NOTHING in class. You have a quiz every week over the material that YOU teach yourself via all her online homework, and then you get to sit in her class for 2 hrs and listen to her "re-teach" what you were just quizzed over. AWFUL

Cindra was my least favorite professor this semester. She doesnt even teach you . Jarvis is your best friend . I learned everything from my lab instructor (Sherri gunasekera) and the book. Her lectures are pointless and she has a quiz every week. The content isnt hard . She just makes it no fun . Be ready to read.

attendance is mandatory even though she doesn't teach during class. Very rude to students, feels as though she wants you to fail. Made me feel stupid for asking questions in office hours, and made me want to quit nursing. Has no compassion, very close minded. Hated her class, not because of the content, but because of her domineering personality

Very horrible professor. She does nothing during class time except talk about her life. It is mandatory to come to class. quiz or test every Monday. "No one is allowed to ask questions during quizzes or tests". She actually said we are not allowed to ask her questions during a quiz or a test. Very, very conceded person. I would never recommend her

She is a hard teacher. If you want to pass this class you NEED to read Jarvis! It will become your bible. She is an OB nurse and not a great teacher for this class. If you have her for you lab good luck.

Yes, her class is difficult and you can't screw around with the quizzes/tests. I had her as an instructor and she always selected me as the guy to take my shirt off so she could demonstrate her assessments. Probably nothing behind it but it kind of weirded me out .

I passed this class with a B, but she didn't help that at all. She seems very nice and helpful when you first meet her, but then when you actually need help, she will tell you to look in your Jarvis book, and even though you need her to clarify what is in Jarvis, she will shrug her shoulders and tell you that she's been in your position before.

Comment:

The first couple weeks were sporadic but you get into a routine. The way she tought us helped us dig deeper into assessing our patients and we gained critical thinking skills. You will absolutely need to read Jarvis and prepare yourself before lab. I personally thought the lectures were a waste of time but the resources for success were there.

She is not the devil. Her class is hard, she makes you learn most things outside of the class but I walked out knowing and RETAINING soooo much information. If you just do the work you will be fine! Also, triple check each week that you have EVERYTHING done that you are supposed to. Overall, not a terrible class if you put in effort.

Cindra claims to be helpful when in reality the only response you will get is "look in your Jarvis textbook". Also, her lectures are terrible, you learn nothing in class, only learn from the textbook. Two hour lectures are a complete waste of time even though they are mandatory. Cindra does not use her class time wisely at all.

Be prepared to teach yourself. Listen to Tegrity lectures, look at all boxes in the book she mentions, pay attention to things she mentions several times or things she mentions just once but that make you wonder why she's talking about that because it has no bearing- it does and it'll be on the tests. Tests are vague and obscure but you can succeed

There is no point in giving her a review because in all honesty, its really not your decision and I am just here to vent. SHES HORRIBLE!!! she's so hypocritical in that she never applies anything she teaches and she's not helpful at all and makes you feel stupid and not good about yourself. The most horrible instructor on the planet. She makes you feel bad about yourself when you go to her office for help. her tests are terrible. Research conducted in 2015, has shown that, she feels happy seeing her students fail on her test. Many students have dropped the course because she kept failing them on the lab.. she knows nothing!!!

I am taking this class now and I must say that I agree with the other posts. You never know what to expect on her quizzes. Jarvis teaches your more than she does. Cindra's office hours is a waste of time because you don't have any privacy because she lets other students come in as well. The lecture is a waste of time as well. Harder than patho!!!!

Comment:

Cindra acts nice but is not really willing to help. The whole nursing program, her included, don't actually care about the students and their success. You can study as much as you want but her test questions will still be very vague and not to the book. Class is boring and does not aid to your understanding. Content is covered after the quiz.
