Dr. Dan is awesome. He's got great personal stories about prison. He doesn't take attendance but he uses examples from lectures on the test, so get notes if you miss. Grades very lenient on papers too. Easy and interesting.

MY FAVORITE PROFESSOR. I really enjoyed this class. No attendance but YOU HAVE TO GO FOR A GOOD GRADE. Test easy if you study. Overall a great man who learned the prison experience personally. Highly reccomend him as a teacher. Does not post anything to asulearn though which is annoying

Very good teacher and very interesting class. he served five years in prison for growing marijuana and talks alot about his experiences. great class but go to class or you will fail the exams

I had Dr. Murphy for both Intro. to CJ and Corrections. He is an excellent professor! He does not offer his opinion very much; he talks about facts. He constantly tells his students that they need to develop their own point of view on the numerous issues he introduces. If you have the opportunity to take his class, do it!

Dr. Murphy was very opinionated, but you can expect that when you spend 5 years in prison, was very energetic ad informative, definitely opens you're mind to being on the opposite side of the criminal justice system. Take him if you can!

Amazing teacher--he was my favorite all year long. I would take him for all of my CJ classes if I could. He knows what he is talking about and talk discuss it from a first-hand basis. Test are easy if you go to class, take notes, and study.

Not good at all, Jump ship when you can. Dont get him as an advisor either. If you do then good speed my friend. He may be cool in class but if you need help you are SOL. (Mullen much better)

Dr. Dan is a fantasic teacher. He can speak from both sides of criminal justice. He does add in his thoughts but challenges you to make up your own decisions. Tests are relatively easy all information based off his lecture so go to class. Great stories and insight, deff take if you want an intresting kind of easy general CJ class.

overall, a great guy and teacher. the class is easy and straight forward, as are the tests. he tends to tell the same stories, but he has a lot of first hand experience that is fascinating to listen to. took intro to CJ and really enjoyed it... a good class worth taking.

He is an easy teacher, however I found some of his liberal biases to be opinions rather than facts. He repeats things a lot but treats each repetition as if he was teaching the information for the first time. If you want an easy teacher I recommend him but I think there are better teachers if you actually want to learn something.

took him for corrections and it was prob my favorite class. he is so passionate about what hes teaching he keeps it interesting. can be a little repetitive but overall hes awesome! i would strongly recommend him..tests are easy and attendence is optional, but you need to go to class to make A's! hes awesome!! TAKE HIM!

I absolutely LOVED Dr. Dan!!! Though I didn't agree with everything, he respects your opinion and is a very interesting person!!! If I ever have the chance, I will totally take him again. Also, easy tests. He makes sure you are prepared if you come to class. I made an A on every single one and never had to study outside of class time.

Though he is incredibly entertaining, he is a bit of a conspiracy theorist. Don't e-mail him, he won't respond. If you get sick and miss something, he doesn't care. Overall very informative, very interesting- but less than caring.
