Comment:

You will do TONS of group work in this class. A majority of that is based off teaming, so it makes sense, but it can definitely be a pain at times. As mentioned, he is very opinionated, but that really makes you think about your beliefs as a future teacher. He knows what he's talking about - there's no doubt about that! However, he is long winded!

Dr. Kommer hates all Early Childhood majors and says so on the first day of class. He critiques them more harshly. All group work which is fine if your group actually puts forth effort. I wish I would have taken this course online

Took Dr. Kommer's course online. Things were very unorganized and mandatory live chatting with 20 classmates was a disaster in my opinion. Assignment deadlines were also unclear. I would not take any online course with him.

He does not give directions well and takes off points and doesnt explain why. Told us if we wanted a syllabus to print them off ourselves. Rather pointless and useless class that can be summed up in two weeks. He also doesnt like contradictory opinions to his own. would not take him if i dont have to.

He is a very good teacher but he does not tell you what is due and when and he forgets a lot. I would take him.

Dr. Kommer is very knowledgable about middle grades. He is very helpful for ideas to use in your field experiences and he is also easy to talk to about anything in general. He does have his own opinions as others have mentioned, but its because he knows not just anyone is suited to be a teacher. You have to show him you take education seriously!

Dr. Kommer for some is an outstanding professor. While has a very helpful appearance, he can be nasty, arrogant and rude, especially when he disagrees with his students. This is very true, regarding his speciality area, middle grade
