David is an okay prof. If you are an organized person who takes good notes I would not recommend him. He skips all over the place and briefly skims the book making his lectures extremely hard to follow if youre trying to take notes as he gives little to no time to copy anything and he doesnt post good practice questions on D2l.

This man is such a gem. I hate french as a subject but loved going to his classes. And you should go to class because he'll tell you exactly what's on the test if you listen closely. I forgot about my french interview and instead of giving me a 0 like most profs would've he rescheduled it. Lots of jokes and stories.

I thought I was going to hate french 1501. But he made it enjoyable. Totally recommend to those apprehensive about the course!

I found him awesome! He helps as much as he can and gives lots of hints as to what will be on the tests/midterms. He does a lot of reading right from the textbook but does lots of examples and makes students feel good about answering questions in class - even if they didn't give the right answer.

French can be dry but it is especially bad when all he does is read from the textbooks. Feels like you arent learning anything but instead are listening to him ramble on. Great guy, though

I took this class because everyone raves about David Wilding. Hes a great guy but I wouldnt take a class with him again. He rambles on instead of focusing on the material. Unclear on what he expects. He makes strange noises with his mouth every few minutes in class which makes it really hard to focus. Wouldnt recommend

Best prof I've ever had at MUN. He gives hints as to what will be on the midterms and sometimes the final. Uses the textbook in class so you'll have to write down what he says. If you go to class this is a super easy mark. Especially if you've done french in high school.

Was told he's great but I completely disagree. Gives no notes, rambles on for 50 minutes skimming the textbook. Barely gives part marks on tests, and doesn't prepare you for the interview. Told our class if we memorized the set questions he gave us we'd be fine, he ended up asking none of them. Went into the exam with a 50, wouldn't recommend.

One of my favorite profs so far. For a class that can usually be pretty boring (intro. French), he tries his best to make the material fun to learn. Gives good examples in class and little tricks to remembering things constantly. Warns of things that'll be on tests and exams all the time, so show up to class and you'll do fine.

David was a good prof. First year French courses suffer from being nearly entirely textbook based and by relying on an online workbook; Wilding tried his best to keep the class interested despite the dryness of the course. Funny guy, was easily accessible outside class. Would get sort of upset when people wouldn't attend, though, lol.

I thought David Wilding was an excellent prof ! He gives lots of hints as to what will be on the tests/ final. He speaks every lecture 90% in english which is so so helpful. Last semester I nearly failed french with a different one. This one i'm doing fine :) take him !! highly recommend.

Very understanding prof, the lectures were always interesting enough. Try to keep up with the homework as most of it is helpful and some of it will be part of your final grade.

One of my favourite profs at MUN. He made French so easy to understand by always providing little hints to help remember rules. His lectures were entertaining and always stayed around after class to answer any questions. He tells you what to expect on tests and points out tricky verbs conjugations that tests will probably try to trick you with.

Didn't find this prof as good as people say. He only does a few examples in class from the book, and tells you what vocab to focus on (only some of it appeared on tests so you were left to guess). Took off ridiculous marks on tests that wasn't covered until lessons ahead, so it wasn't fair. Would not take again. Destroyed my interest in french.

I found that he gave plenty of room for potential improvement, and overall this class was a breeze! I would recommend having him for a prof any day, would definitely take again!

If you struggle with French TAKE Wilding. His class is definitely the best for those struggling with French. The tests are fair and he gives lots of examples and hints in class and stresses what is important. He teaches in both English and French so it's a relief for those who don't always understand what is going on. Go to class and practice!
