Comment:

Denny Gaal is a great teacher. He may get off topic but that doesn't stray from the lesson or affect the difficulty at all. If you attend class 85% of the time you will be fine. He is willing to work with you and offers lots of opportunity for extra credit. Highly suggest for any class.

Comment:

Love this guy, but his class is really unstructured and I never know what my grades are on anything. If you need organization and things to be laid out for you, definitely don't take him. I struggled a LOT despite always having A's in math, and I think I would have done better if there was a syllabus or if I could track my grades on course web.

Dr Gaal is a great professor. I got a B in both calc 1 and 2 from him. He will teach you everything you need to know from math. Tests can be "iffy". He wants to challenge you. Attend class, don't be dumb. Usually it's 2 days a week like Tues/Thurs. Even if you aren't a math major, he will work with you and you can end with a good grade. Funny too!

Dr. Gaal is great! he's hilarious and keeps things interesting. He keeps his class super easy and is always willing to help. You could probably get by without purchasing the book! I would love to have him again! 10/10 recommend!

He liked to give me attitude because I didn't attend class, even though attendance isn't mandatory. Does nothing online, so you have to actually go to figure out when tests are. Also organizes his class poorly. I went to class probably 5 times and got a B. He's easy, but I wouldn't recommend him unless you know nothing about Statistics.

He is a very nice guy and really loves math. The class was a cake walk-I had severe health issues the semester I had him which made it impossible to be in class and I hadn't seen the material since high school. Otherwise would have gotten an A. Very willing to help if you don't understand and gives out bonus for doing problems on the board.

Mr. Gaal was the best professor I had at UPG. He was always willing to help out, and made sure the class understood the material. I am not that talented at math, yet with the help of Mr. Gaal I managed to get an A, and, more importantly, a well cultivated understanding of the subject. Highly recommend.

Mr. Gaal is the best professor I have ever had. He is funny, and he keeps the class very interesting. He makes sure you learn the material and basically tells you exactly what is going to be on the test. I wish I could retake Calculus just to have him again. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Had him for Pre-Calc. Very straight-forward. Doesn't mess around. Teaches what you need to know, but only by example. Could be a little better if he taught a little reasoning behind it. Willing to go out of his way to help you if you need it. Tests can be tough, but if you work hard you will do fine. Plan on taking him again for Calc 2.

I had this one guy, Doc Thomas he took of ten points on a problem for missing a negative sign.

took him for scientific precalc... really nice guy.. sucky teacher. Had an A in algebra, understood the material when we did it in class but he makes ridiculous problems for exams.Not much of a note giver. He gives you work sheets and tells you to do them without notes on the problems.

He is my favorite professor and this is probably one of my easiest classes even though I HATE math. He teaches in a way that I understand and he is very very helpful. He reviews with you the day of the quiz, which is also very helpful. TAKE HIM FOR ALL OF YOUR MATHS!!!

I had him for Prep for Scientific calc and whatever is before that i forget. But anyways he might be the nicest guy on campus. He really enjoys what he does and he is good at it. Very helpful and you can understand him. He lets you make tests up if the class does bad or if you ask him and he will let you come to his office and make it up. TAKE HIM.
