While going to class is not mandatory, I would highly suggest it if you want to do well in the class. The grading scale consists of lab reports and tests so make sure you are prepared for both. He is quite approachable outside of class, but the lectures are fast-paced so take advantage of it.

Class was okay, would still recommend taking if on the fence of getting your chem minor (usually only class people have left to take for minor). Lectures usually feel long and dry but can be interesting at times.

I think he did a fairly good job explaining the content, but expected you to put a lot of effort into the class. It was very hard and definitely a lot of work, but I leaned a lot.

Very particular with lab reports. Gives a generous amount of partial credit on exams and is usually available to help outside of class time. He can be a bit demeaning (unintentionally) if a student isn't up to his standards. Isn't a bad professor, but isn't good either.

He doesn't like answering questions. If you are confused he will only give you unhelpful hints. His test are relatively doable and you can do really well if you study for it. Lab is unorganized.

Weisshaar is probably the smartest chemist that I've encountered. He is so passionate about the subject and is more than willing to go out of his way to help a student. Great man. He makes jokes sometimes and he'll love you if you laugh.

The nature of Chem120 is that it is a difficult, fast-paced class. I really did not enjoy the class, but Weisshaar was always more than willing to help and do what he could to assist students!

I found this class to be extremely hard. He moves too fast and doesn't explain concepts clearly. It's hard to ask questions when you are three chapters behind. We went over five chapters in three days. Be prepared to read read read!
