As a theater production student, I am forced to take this class and I thought it would be a good idea to have Ed as a professor since I have to take a directing class with him. He made us buy his book off of Amazon and it was never on the syllabus that was sent to us. He is a bad person who needs to be fired and the department does not see that.

I expected Play Analysis (Drama 009) to be boring and tedious, but that couldn't be further from the truth. Ed makes analysis interesting. He's funny, engaging, makes an effort to personally know everyone in his class, and is always checking in with students to make sure they understand what is going on. Easily my favorite professor and class!

He's really fun in class. Very strict about attendance. Doesn't take well to student's who don't take subject matter seriously. Kind of a tough grader. Really knows his stuff and is a good teacher, just make sure you pay attention in class.

Ed is amazing. He knows his stuff, being a director who is currently involved in a lot of productions (he has his own theatre company). Its an easy course and a lot of fun. He makes the class a laugh-athon. Attendance is big with him so don't skip any classes. No books, just note taking. A lot of discussion and class participation. No homework

He thinks he is so smart but in reality he's just clueless and ignorant. He's stubborn and rude. I made the mistake of not switching out of his class when I didn't hear great things. Don't make the same mistake that I did.

This class was awful. I registered for it since I needed the credits and because I wanted to try a bit of acting. Ed taught the class like he would to advanced drama majors. His criticisms were snide and offensive while his smugness just added salt to the wound. I won't write anything more since it would express how I truly feel.

Don't listen to what any of these negative nancys have to say. Yes, Ed is pretty strict and doesnt mess around. But he wants to see all his students do well. I had such a fun time in his class and would take it over again in a heartbeat if i could again. Thanks Ed for a great class!

The man is so scathingly sarcastic and very unsympathetic. He never actually instructed us until two months into the class. We were all amateurs seeking only a means of exploring what it is to act and how to do it and first day we're given an assignment to make a skit giving no instructions on how to act or how to form a skit. Awful class!

I don't know where most of these ******** get off sayin some of the stuff they do but I took this class to fulfil a CP requirement and it was easy. 2 graded assignments the whole semester, otherwise you just play games in class. Ed is a bitter loser who lost out in the business many years ago. he burned bridges with a lot of very important people, and now he produces over the top plays in 10 seat theatres that are usually empty on any given night. He resembles a cult leader in man

One of the best teachers i ever had at hofstra. Teaches well through actually making you act. Grading policy is great as long as you stay on it. Cool guy with a funny hariuct.
