She told me in person after I came back from being sick that I was marked as excused absence, but refused to let me turn in any homework despite saying she would. She forgot. I didn't email because we talked in person she forgot. Her classes grade is based on filling out homework. You learn nothing from this teacher.

Hated this professor. She spent an entire class period complaining about transgenders, then kept us after class to actually teach what she should've during her little rant. I was sick with a fever and she wouldn't accept my excuse and still marked me absent. Never answered a question straight - instead goes off on tangents. Hated her.

Dr. Giddens knows her field. The thing she doesn't seem to get is the needs & ability of her students. She might be fine in undergraduate classes, but wasted a lot of class time talking about projects that already had enough details in the assignment description. Also, she does not make expectations clear & gives a lot of inconsistent information.

I took this class as a Maymester. There are a lot of papers but she posts what her grading criteria on D2l. So if you follow her criteria, then you should be fine. There are a few grammar quizzes, but it's open book. Correct grammar is key to being successful in her class. Oh yeah, she won't bump your 89 to a 90.

I've taken Dr. Giddens twice and she's been amazing both times. She's honestly just the nicest person and despite what people say, she can teach you so much, if you're willing to listen to her. She's very knowledgeable, specifically about technical writing and editing. If you have strong writing skills, you'll do well in her class.

Dr. Giddens grades based off of her own affinity to the topic at hand. I.e If it was easy for her to read a map, then it should be easy for you. If she found it difficult to follow through, you must find something wrong with it, even if you can read it fine. She deals with all of her classwork this way, so be ready to view it through her lens. ):

Dr. Giddens made Argumentative Writing so much fun. She kept class interesting and taught information that I will carry on through my career after college. She is very understanding and helpful. She took the needs of every student to heart and deeply cared about all of us. I would LOVE to take her again

This woman loves to talk! She talks about nothing. Don't listen to her. You will get what she is saying in the first few minutes, but she will go on for hours. Find something else to do in the meantime. Assignments are easy; they just take time. I got an A without trying to hard. Just make sure you proofread; she cares about grammar the most.

Dr. Giddens was not very helpful during this course. She is not supportive of students' ideas, and sometimes was disrespectful to students during class if they had differing opinions. She was not clear about her expectations for assignments, and counted off points for minor errors. I will never take a course with her again.

Dr. Giddens taught this section with another professor and they seeemed to work alright together. Did not have great classroom management skills. The lessons tended to be very scattered and both professors tend to go off on tangents that did not relate to the class. It was a lot of reading, eight books to be exact. 2 tests, 2 papers, and 1 project.

DO NOT TAKE ECOFEMINISM. Giddens is a ridiculously harsh grader. I took this class as one of my only "electives" in my major and completely regret it. As much time I have spent reading (8 books) and preparing, I can't even make an A on something as simple as a bibliography. Beware...

don't take Ecofeminism, it was disorganized and required too much work that was not necessary to the course overall. Giddens grades like its a graduate course when it is her first time teaching the course. Davis was awesome but Giddens didn't know how to connect and explain anything.

You need the textbooks for this class. She has multiple assignments out of them. She is very particular but not very clear. I would learned a lot but still would not recommend her. She was tough to work with and had outbursts where she talked down to her students. There was one test, an editing project, and a group project.

Seems hard to please at first, but actually somewhat accommodating; nevertheless, she has no sense of life outside of academia. Her due dates are pretty unreasonable. Dithery, awkward personality...I would recommend for English majors but no one else.

I took Beth Giddens for Professional Editing and Environmental Writing and Lit, and I would take her again. Both classes had lots of hands-on learning and discussions. Dr. Giddens' offered great advice from her real-life experience. She is challenging in a good way, and if you read the books, come to class, and don't slack off, you'll do well.

She's a nice lady but if you ask her a question she will give you a 15 minute answer. There is a LOT of group work. If you dont like group work, dont take her class. she is not very clear about what she expects in class, but the Syllabus is very descriptive follow vista and the syllabus and you'll be fine

Very nice lady. As long as you show up every day, follow instructions, and have a fairly strong grasp of mechanics and grammar, an A shouldn't be too hard to attain. I never used the book. Lectures are understandably boring. No tests. If you hate group projects then i suggest you don't take her class.

There is a heavy emphasis on group work in this class. Groups don't pay the tuition and there is no way to force the group to do the work, so one or two people bear the burden. Her "help" always seemed to be after the fact--"you should have done it this way"! I would avoid her at all costs.

Corp. Comm: She can meander on and give overly extended answers, but she expects a lot and is a good teacher. A lot of projects? So what? This is college and grad school. It's not supposed to be easy. You'll learn a lot from her. She should require more professional presentations from the students, & sometimes it's "la la land" English. Take her.
