Comment:

If you're looking for an unorganized professor who talks to you like a child, this is the one. All she ever wants to talk about is feelings. She stands at the front and tells you stories of African people and events. She assigns like 5-6 books to read and 2-3 movies to watch OUTSIDE of class. She is SO ANNOYING. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASSES.

Comment:

Prof. MacGonagle is a really nice person, but a terrible teacher. I love the subject matter (collective and global memory) and what we were learning was really interesting, but I had no idea what she expected most of the semester. She says she's open to new things, but isn't, and i'm not really sure why we were there most of the time...Awful class.

MacGonagle is extremely nice and probably a genius, but is a tad flaky and it's difficult to know what she wants from you. Sometimes I wasn't sure she knew what she wanted. We had a couple papers and a project. Again, she knows a lot, but doesn't communicate it that well. But so nice!!

Prof. MacGonagle is very hard to understand. Her lectures are VERY scattered, and her assessments of your work is very inconsistent. Though she tries to help to the best of her ability, she is unorganized and doesn't clearly convey the material. Her final is VERY hard, and your grade is based on 5 assessments only. Nice woman - terrible teacher.

STOP! Do not take a class from Prof. MacGonagle. . She is extremely dull, and lacks any personality. You can go to her office hours, but she will only criticize your work; don't dare take her something she disagrees with, it will set the tone for the rest of the semester in regards to how she treats, and ultimately grades you.

Dr.M is a great teacher, if you want to learn. She does require that you read and write papers but is nothing that a normal college class wouldn't require. It was a great class that I recommend everyone should take. I learned a lot about African and African American culture, this class made me want to pursue another class in AAAS.

Prof. MacGonagle is a very quirky professor who takes some getting used to. Lectures are often scattered, but impart the basic ideas she's trying to get across. Very nice woman, but not easily accessible until you get to know her.

Professor MacGonagle was not a bad teacher in that she explained everything clearly and had a good command of her subject matter, but her lectures are pretty dry, and it's sometimes difficult to stay attentive in class.

Comment:

I found her to be unaccessable and extremely boring. She IS passionate about African History but she did not convey the information very well and was a difficult grader. On essays, be sure to discuss(and agree with) social issues she talks about in class.
