He goes on tangents throughout class, but just pay attention to the examples he gives and exams are super easy. He will give you all the types of questions for the exam in the review class before exam, so attend them. You can earn up to 120% on each exam and 4 exams and homework account for all grades. Looking forward to calc3 with Dr. Toth.

He's a very knowledgeable man, however not the best lecturer. He doesn't really teach math he just tells you. He'll randomly go off on tangents about history or how wrong someone's response to his question was. Hw given every lecture and expected back in a week. Test averages were awful. I was going to tutors almost daily for help. BOOK IS USED.

I had Dr. Toth for Special Topics in Ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphs and it was the most amazing class I have ever had. He is an excellent professor and he is an absolute genius. He is also an extremely fair grader and he is always open to help with whatever he can! Excellent class!!

Topology. He is not a good professor for upper level math (topology & difQ).Notes, hw, and exam ?review? does not help for exams. He cares more about research than teaching. Two-thirds in the semester, syllabus was changed. There was supposed to be a non cumulative final but changed to an optional cumulative final, not fair for half the class.

He is either sadistic or just nuts. He gave a test with four questions, three of which the class never saw. By his own admission, the class on a whole did poorly on the test-he said if you got a 40 to 50 (out of 100!) then you were OK...I studied lecture notes and homework problems and it did me no good whatsoever on the test. Don't take him.

Dr. Toth is a brilliant human being. It is humbling to think of all that is stored in his brain. If you do the homework and take quizzes he sees you are involved and grades you kindly. he is readily available for help and patient in answering questions with this tough subject.

Nicest guy. If you have a problem, he'll help you if you ask. He tries so hard to make the material as approachable as possible, but you'll rarely get past the fact that this class is crazy ridiculous. You'll likely never learn Hieroglyphics, but it's not hard to do well. Do the homework and study the exercises.

He is absolutely brilliant and knows everything worth knowing. If you pay attention at all, his *hungarian* accent is not an issue, plus he types up his notes for the whole class anyway. He is an easy grader if you have half a braincell, and more importantly, you will learn a lot. Can you believe ancient history is just his hobby?

Admittedly, I spent most of the semester humming the Indiana Jones theme song in my head, but I thought Toth was a great professor. And just for the record, he's NOT GERMAN. Way to recognize accents. He's Hungarian.

I failed this course b/c he is the worst math teacher. He stutters a lot, speaks with such a thick German accent that it is hard to understand a lot. He will not do any example problems in class, so it's all theory in the lecture. You must attend the Re

I took his class over the summer and while it was alot of info to learn in that short time he made it easy to understand. You have to do the homework in order to understand things. He also uses the same problems from the hw just different numbers. Just make sure you go to class and try to learn from the examples he teaches.

Comment:

Pretty good teacher. Easy to understand. However, has to do homework in order to pass the class with a good grades. I had no problem with him because I've taken Calculus in high school before, but most of my classmates drop out. He does curve about 10% of your exam scores.
