Comment:
I took this course because I thought it would be interesting, but in reality, it was not he was oftentimes disorganized and just rambled. When we moved online because of COVID, he never reached out to us for over a month, which was frustrating. Also, he is a harsh grader and makes demeaning comments on papers, and it takes him a long time to grade.

I took his online class. Unfortunately, I did not have a choice. He is exactly how most of these comments are, degrading and arrogant. I put SOO much effort in his classes between reading and doing assignments everyday. He still commented to me saying I did not care, TWICE.

Comment:
Tough grader and harsh critic. Extremely rude and degrading towards students. Ive put all of my effort into reading every page of the assigned reading (about 20-25 per night), watching his lecture videos, and responding to his questions, and Ive never felt more disrespected, by a teacher, from his feedback to me and general comments to the class.

Completely subjective grader. Even quoting his text won't help you on exams. His comments cross the line from constructive criticism to outright rude. You will get SO many points off assignments if you don't write well. Very slow at grading - no one knew what their grades were going into our Final exam. Most readings are 20+ pages. 0/5 tbh

Dr. Ralph is a funny guy, very intelligent and has too much he wants to say during lectures so basically you try to write everything down. You have to study hard, do not I repeat DO NOT cram for exams. There are 3 exams no final and make sure you are prepared to answer questions in class. Lecture and note heavy.

One of the best professors i've ever taken. He holds student led reviews before the test, and whichever essays you go over he puts on the test... take advantage of it. also, he's so cute :)))))

Ralph is the GOAT. He cried once during class cause of an opera song and it was so stinking' cute. Also anyone who says "he's to tough" will not make it a UDs main campus, his class is a breeze. TAKE HIM!! You won't regret it.

I took the online class, assignments are ridiculous you read 25 pages&watch a lecture & only have 150 words to respond, with quotes, your own thought& answering his 5 part question. Go over word limit? lose 1/2 credit, no quotes? lose 1/2 credit. Ask for help and he'll insult your reading comprehension. This man was literally impossible to please.

His lectures are interesting and entertaining. He is a funny guy, but can seem mean if people talk during class. You have to take really good notes based off what he says, the readings are interested, and then just reproduce that for the tests. Lots of writing on exams. It is possible to get an A though. Participation and attendance help a lot.

Professor Ralph is one of my favorite Professors at UD. Yes, he can appear rude, but it's because he demands respect. He is not unfair or too tough of a grader. The exams are an essay-3 options, and 6 short IDs. He wants A LOT of detail. But I passed 2 of his classes with an A. He makes hilarious comments on the material and is a great guy.

Words can not express my hate for not only the class but the professor. He was so beyond annoying and tried so hard to be funny and he wasn't. he would lay, yes LAY across the table his students were at. His exams are extremely hard and he gives you a "study" guide that should be an overview of the class with how extensive it is. DO NOT TAKE !!!

DO NOT take his class. As you will soon regret this decision. He is arrogant and rude. During class he has called students out for some of the dumbest things you could think of. He is little to no help at all and most of his lectures don't even help you with the exams. Make sure you read the book, it will help you.

I liked this teacher he was interesting in lecture, much of what is expected on test was from the text book. If you are a poor writer DO NOT take any of his classes- he requires an essay on every exam.If you are a hard worker, study and enjoy history then he may be for you. Also donĂ¢€™t speak over him, or talk while he is lecturing, he hates that.

Nice man, but very BAD professor. He is comical, but comedy isn't what teaches you. CANNOT please on exam essays. Writes insulting comments on exams; wrote that I had "language skill problems." Said to others also. Has a pompous attitude. Class lectures are entirely irrelevant to exams. Tune him out, use the study guide, and your book. Trust me.

this teachers wasn't that bad, but if you're not a good essay writer, i suggest not taking this class. All of his test/final is an essay and he expects a lot of the lecture material to be included in the essay.

Great professor. Clear lectures. Go to class so you won't need to use the text book. Exams: 1 of 3 long essays. Easy to predict the questions, so you can study 1/3 of the material (eg: foreign affairs for given timeframe). Study guides organize material for you. Good lecturer, entertaining at times. No HW. Attendance helps grade. Nice guy.

This guy is pretty funny. I usually hate history, but Dr. Ralph actually made it fun and interesting. Take notes, come to class, and your pretty much guaranteed a good grade. His Tests are pretty straight forward (usually just 1 big essay). The final consists of short answer plus an essay. But overall, I great class!!

I took this class to fulfill a group B requirement and was dreading it. It ended up being my favorite class I took this semester! Ralph is interesting, nice, and easy to follow. I never had to do any of the readings. Just attend class, take good notes, and you are guaranteed A's. Split the study guide with friends and its a breeze! Take it!
