Comment:
Geoff Waite is one of the kindest and coolest professors I have had. He will treat an undergrad with no experience reading marx with the same level of respect for his/her ideas as he would a philosophy grad student. Always wiling to answer questions after class and very understanding about deadlines if stuff comes up. 10/10

Prof. Waite is the best professor I've had at Cornell. His lectures are amazing, he is knowledgable about pretty much everything. So interesting to talk to... Am taking another one of his classes in the Fall.

brilliant, soft-spoken, unbelievably chill. I took a grad-level Marxisms seminar with him and there were these two guys who had literally never read any Marx and were obviously clueless - Geoff was always super nice and encouraging with them. yeah he uses a lot of jargon but he's approachable, patient and always willing to explain

Really interesting dude with an obvious passion for his subject and comprehensive knowledge of the material. Tended to ramble a lot in lectures with a slightly awkward yet endearing voice that made students unlikely to participate in conversation. He's also an anarchist so you don't have to worry too much about grading pressure.

Took Prof. Waite for a Spinoza class. The good parts: brilliant, open-minded, willing to engage all sorts of ideas. On the other hand: yes he's a bit pretentious, and maybe insecure. I disagreed with a lot of what he said but didn't want to speak up. Still one of the best profs I've had at Cornell. Also grading is easy - write on what you like

Class on Spinoza. Fantastic professor, easily one of the few I'll really remember out of four years at Cornell. I found him quite friendly and approachable; a little weird, yes, awkward, yes, but he's undoubtedly interested in students, and very interesting to listen to and learn from. Thumbs up from a science major!

You want to learn what learning is? Take a class with Geoff. The man is brilliant. Anything and everything I ever publish will give him some acknowledgment. Sometimes in life, you meet people who you know from the minute they speak you will never forget. Geoff is one of those people. He's the greatest man I've ever met second only to my Father.

Great class, there's really little to no work required, but the subject matter is always interesting. But the man does whisper.

Great class! Laid back style of teaching makes this class very easy to follow, yet extremely interesting on all levels. It's one of those classes where you're not really asked to do too much work, but you find yourselves doing the readings out of interest.

Such a great guy. Lots of reading but no tests, pick and choose what's interesting to you. Seems nervous teaching in front of class but very intelligent and kind.

he was really only coherent for the first 10 minutes of the first class. after that, it was all head-rubbing and nonsense-spouting. but he's nice and sometimes funny. i like that he quotes the clash in class. just sort of a wierd teacher.

Political Theory and cinema is one the most poorly run classes at cornell. unless your knowledge of political terminology is equivalent to his, it is usually useless to understand him.
