Comment:

Truly a wonderful professor, and does all that she can to ensure that all students fully understand the material. A really great professor teaching an awful, gruesome, material-heavy class. Study sessions for exams matter. Make sure to read the material, and watch the provided videos. Don't wait until the lass minute for case studies and turn ins.

Comment:

Marlena was a caring and helpful professor. 5 case briefs, 5 excel assignments, 2 quizzes and 2 tests, 1-2 chapters each week. Tests are in person. If you put the time in and try you can do well. She is great at emailing back with answers to questions. Extra credit was offered on our Final.

She is very knowledgeable and explains stuff very well. My only complaint is the amount of work she requires for the course. Take a very light load of classes while you're taking her mba finance course if you work a full time job (which I expect most MBA students work full time and are professionals). You will dedicate tons of time for the class.

Comment:

Dr. Akhbari is a good teacher overall. The class has too much work for a 13 week period. It was hard to keep up with all the cases and tests. Probably a better choice than other professors teaching the same class.

Comment:

Make sure to watch her videos, put in effort for the case assignments, and show all of your work on exams. She is fair with her grading as far as partial points goes. There are plenty of assignments to raise your grade if you do not do well on the midterm or final. She makes you work, but you learn a ton.

The material in this class is tough, but Dr. Akhbari is excellent at explaining it. The hardest part of the course is the case studies. 2 Exams were given. I didn't find the exams to be too difficult. At the end of the semester she gave people who didn't do well on the midterm the option to retake it or you had the option for 20 extra credit pt

Run the other way & fast! First she tells you you don't need a textbook, surprise you do -2 of them! No where in registration does it say you have to take exams for online classes in person. There literally is no teaching! Her assignments do not relate to the book at all, you use excel all sem. (which she doesn't teach) but then use fin-cal on exam

What a great Professor she was! She was always willing to help, she would answer any questions you had. Finance is a tough class, but with hard work and dedication you can pass her class. I would take her again.

Great professor! One of the best I've ever had. If I could take her for everything, I would. She is funny and makes class interesting, even if the subject is not. Print the study guides and take them to class to do the examples problems and make notes. Those are the problems she does in class. Do the suggested book problems to practice for exams.

I really enjoyed learning in her class. She is available if people need help and has extra study sessions before exams. There are videos that helped with homework available. She allows partial credit on exams if you can show your work. I would definitely take her again.

Can't teach and doesn't explain. Her study guides are useless. In class work is just her finishing the problem too quickly before you have time to follow. You dont know where to start asking questions. Raises voice quickly and sounds upset if questions are asked. Like I said - she cannot teach. Save your GPA!

Probably the best professor I ever had at Wright State. Such a fair person, and cares so much about her students. She actually makes class fun, which is hard with FIN. Tells you what you need to know, and there are no surprises on exams. She will go over anything you don't understand and has numerous resources for studying so you can succeed! A+!

Moves fast through the material, but if a question is asked she will stop and try to explain it to the student the best she can. She is very funny which makes the class interesting. She also held a review session the Sunday before the final exam. If you are willing to work for a good grade, I would definitely recommend.

Marlena is extremely personable and a joy to be around. However, she moves through material way too quickly and crams too much material into each test. There are numerous online quizzes, but only (extremely hard) 3 tests. If you are a bad test taker, do NOT take Marlena's class. The way she teaches is by showing you problems at a very fast pace

She's just darling! Very much cares about her students; always asking for feedback. Knows each of her students by name (from all sections!) FIN is a tough topic, but she explains it thoroughly. APLIA due online each weekend. Semester -3 quizzes; 5 exams. Held an optional study session on a few Saturdays! DEF do textbook problems; answers given.

Comment:

Immediately loved her when she first walked into the class. Hard topic, but she explains it in a way that's understandable. Online homework is hard. Show work on tests to receive partial credit. She will offer bonus opportunities and review sessions if the class shows need. Attend class to do well. Work outside of class is reasonable.
