I loved loved LOVED professor Mason! He is incredibly smart and so nice. I usually hate 3 hour classes but I looked forward to his class every week. I am sad that the semester is over and that I will not have the chance to take any more classes with him because he is just that great of a professor.

Comment:
He is an incredibly smart, well written, and nice man. However, this course was incredibly dull and I dreaded each lecture. His approach to the subject, while valid, is nearly wholly literary and etymological. Without prior knowledge of Islam, students will be left without the necessary context to understand the Sufism.

Seems like a dry guy in lecture, but is good during one-on-one office hours. Voice is very monotone, and it's definitely hard to stay awake, no matter how engaging the lecture topics are. Clearly intelligent but at times seems kind of out of it, gets off topic sometimes.

Comment:
ALthough somewhat dry in a large lecture setting, he is very intelligent, and a great professor in a smaller class. Prompts participation, becomes animated during class discussions. Fair grader. Don't go tired- his voice is a too conducive to sleepiness
