Prior to taking her class, I read a bunch of negative reviews. She is absolutely firm with deadlines but her class was by no means difficult to pass. I made an A and I am not the greatest writer. I'm 27 and had I taken her class when I was younger, I probably wouldn't have done well. Read and follow all instructions and just do not procrastinate

Honestly, I'v never experienced a teacher like this. I should have rated her a long time ago because she is absolutely the worst teacher/"professor" that I have ever had from kinder garden to my freshman year of college. Don't believe me? Look at the horrible feedback she had gotten already. Don't take this class with Janet Shanteau.

Do not choose this professor! I've never had a problem with a class or a professor like this class and this professor. She questions everything that you turn in. I have yet to turn in something that received proper feedback. Please read the other reviews! I did not before I took the class and I DEEPLY regret it.

Terrible in class at explaining the course material. Verbally gives out a rough outline for what will be on tests and expects you to guess what the right questions to study for the test and quizzes are. No actual handouts. Just orally gives out a quick review of what we should study for.

I'm not sure why everyone graded Shanteau so poorly. I've been out of high school for a while, but I found her Eng 2131 class to be interesting. I have an 85 in the class, and i'm not really an English kind of guy. If you follow the schedule and put some effort in doing the work, you will get a good grade. if you want a easy A, it won't happen.

Wow. In two years of attending classes never have I experienced a professor like this. Assignments are rarely clearly explained, and when they are expect to follow every microscopic detail or receive a failing grade. Little room for creativity in assignments and most interaction between classmates rather than the prof. Would NEVER recommend.

This class was insanely hard! I've only ever gotten one B and I almost failed with this professor. She wrote on the feedback for one of my papers that she stopped reading it halfway through because my sources weren't cited correctly and gave me an automatic F! If you obsess over your GPA like me this is definitely not the right professor for you!

Please beware at all cost of this teacher if you have too. I've never had a problem with any of the instructors at Georgia Perimeter, but she definitely gives it a bad name. Writing is suppose to be free expression and your interpretation, but if she doesn't agree with your point of view then "F" is the grade you will receive. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!

Other than the fact that she is mean, condescending, and seems to be in a romantic relationship with her sons, she is great. I am not sure she has read any of the stories she teaches since they were first published, so sometimes she get things really wrong and then tests you on her messed-up version of reality. She is better than you.

This lady will help you when you need help but she's rarely nice about anything. She's a grade Nazi/REALLY hard grader. You have to study haaaard to get a decent grade. She puts a lot of people down I guess to feel better about herself. I'm pretty sure she only stays at perimeter because she thinks everyone is stupid and under her. Have fun.

I am an English major and this is my 4th semester of College English and I have made A's in all of my English classes so far. However, this lady is psycho and thinks everyone is stupid and deserves to fail. Do not take this class. It will leave you wondering if there is any good left in the world. I am return to college student. I have been back in school now for 1 and I have never met anyone like this in my life. Their is no rationality to her process, and she is demeaning and arrogant, she is not helpful if you value your gpa and your love of English, steer clear of her.
