WAY TOO HARD for a 100 level class. I'm a senior and took this class thinking it would be an easy A. There's a crazy amount of reading you have to do before every single class. And you HAVE to do it because she does random quizzes. Also, her attendance policy is WAYYYY too strict. I had some serious personal issues she didn't even care.

She wasn't a good teacher at all. Seems nice, but she is a harsh grader.

Jesse is a very good lecturer. She includes her own flare to the material and it makes it very interesting. You have to go to class because, although the readings are essential, most of what is on the quizzes and tests are in her lectures. The only grades in this class were the quizzes and tests. She is also a very nice and likable person.

Dr. Jesse is super nice and easy to talk to. However, she expects you to read and understand what you are reading. I am a Western religion thinker so understanding Eastern religions was hard which made the tests harder, but it is very possible to pass her class. She also encourages office hours for everything even just to talk.

I would never take this professor again, by far the most unpleasant experience I have ever had with a professor. Her portion of Exploring Religions is significantly more difficult than the other professors'. Once you get in the hole, there is literally no escape, no matter how hard you try.

This class was definitely one of the hardest classes I have ever taken. The material is very dense. It is a lot of outside reading to be prepared for class. Professor Jesse stands at the front and lectures the whole time. You really have to listen carefully to understand. Be prepared to not get the grades that you are used to. Good Luck!

If you're curious about other religions, I highly recommend this class. We studied the six major religions and compared them. Dr. Jesse is an awesome professor. Her lectures stay on topic and she does a great job of clarifying confusing concepts from the reading in class. Tests aren't too hard. Although there is reading, it is very managable.

Average difficulty, but is a little harder than I expected a religion class to be. She is very friendly. Homework daily: reading intensive. Many pop quizzes with 5 questions, but graded out of 4 points (so you can gain some extra credit) Only 3 tests that are not too hard. You must participate in class discussion, as it is graded

Dr. Jesse is a very knowledgeable woman and loves her profession; nonetheless, the class was a struggle for me. Don't assume that this class will give you an easy A, even though its a 100-level class. READ A LOT: there will be pop quizzes! There weren't any tutors available for me and office hours were only helpful for a moment. Good luck...

Dr. Jesse is a really great professor. You can tell that she's super passionate about what she teaches. The amount of work she expects can be annoying, esp for a 100 level class. She assigns a ton of reading and expects a lot of participation. Random pop quizzes about once a week. But if you are genuinely interested in religion, you'll learn a lot.

Super easy class. If you speak once per lecture then you already have an A for 10% of the class. Only three tests including the final which is 80% of your grade, but each one offers tons of extra credit opportunities. I walked out of each exam thinking I failed it and ended up getting As on each one. Quizzes are obnoxious but passable if you read.

Though she is very nice she teaches the class as though its a 400 Philosophy class. Don't take this class if you are expecting it to be easy. You get about 3 tests a semester and they are over 3-4 similar religions and you have to know ALL the differences

She really cares about what she does and is perfectly willing to help you outside of class. Sometimes the lectures can get a little dry though. Make sure you speak up in class. Her tests definitely require preparation.

Her tests were difficult for me and I struggled at first, but I visited her office hours and got help. She is extremely helpful and wants you to do well. Also, she is really engaging lecturer and I rarely got bored during her lectures. While I know there are easier profs for this class, getting Dr. Jesse should not be a problem.

Obviously very interested in what her students learn; but claims she wants you to comprehend the religions, when all she wants you to do is memorize what she things is right. Also assigns nearly pointless readings filled with easy-to-comprehend metaphors, then confuses you with over-your-head and generalized metaphors in class. Avoid- take Ethics.

I went into this class thinking it would be an easier class, but not the case. It was probably my hardest class this semester. 80% of your grade is 3 tests, and you have to study hard for them. I tried very hard but ended with a B. I know there are easier professors for this so I would try getting them...but if you cant you will survive this class!

She is a nice woman but an incredibly hard professor for a 100 level class! Make sure you can memorize easily otherwise you won't do well on quizzes or on tests. ALSO MAKE SURE YOU TALK IN CLASS. Otherwise she drops your grade 10%. I got screwed in her class because I didn't speak up enough.
