Jim is a great teacher and is very helpful and accessible. However, his grading system took me a bit to get used to as it is different from the traditional system. The only reason I wouldn't take his class again is that I don't like the grading system. For English 102, the assignments were to prepare you to write your final paper which was great.

English 101 was the first class I took at Clark a few terms ago and I wish I could have him for every class. He was so understanding and would answer any questions you messaged him with.

JIm was recommend by Dr. Rosalie Roberts, My Eng 098 Instructor. Im glad that I took his class. It was an easy class, theres a weekly chapter quizzes and you will write 3 essays, discussions and response every week. I enjoyed his class, Jim is very kind and easy to talk to. Very helpful, just focus and you you'l get an A

Jim is fantastic! If you're wanting to learn and prove your work ethic, you'll do great here. He is a fair grader though slightly tough (meaning if you dont put in the effort you'll get dinged) but he gives fantastic feedback and is easy to communicate with! Also flexible and wants to see you pass. Prepare to write a good amount too.

Seriously the hardest class I've ever taken. There is SO MUCH busy work. He's the hardest grader I've ever had. He forces the topic on you for your final paper. This is an insanely time intensive course with little to no benefit to my current knowledge. Just all around stressful. It's an entry level course - take a professor that treats it as such.

What a fabulous professor. Seriously the most inspiring and amazing english teacher who teaches in such a different way. Would take him again a million times over. His assignments and way of doing things are so creative and definitely had me enjoying the class a lot more than I should've. Just a gem

REALLY great English professor! I hope to take Professor Wilkins-Luton's English 102 next quarter. He is funny, clear in what he expects, gives good feedback on essays, and answers emails promptly. As a part of his class, we were required to write three 250 word free-writes per week, aside from the essays. This really increases writing fluency.

Jim was one of my first professors my first quarter into college at 31. I've been unimpressed by many professors but Wilkins-Luton was well organized and clear. Jim is there to teach, not just for a paycheck. This is very obvious. I should note I hate English class, to make it enjoyable was amazing. He'd be a cool guy to grab a drink with.

Jim Wilkins-Luton is very lenient, caring, and real with his feedback. He will help you if you're in a tough spot, and encourage you as you keep going. He adds lots of humor and purpose to his assignments -- if the effort is there, you'll make it.

I took English 101 as an online class with Jim Wilkins-Luton and it was great. In high school I never liked English, but I have learned so much in this class and I really enjoy it. Jim is a great teacher, is fair with assignments, gives great feedback, gives clear directions, and always responds to your emails. I would highly recommend this class.

Great teacher, He has two books for his class, one of which is Rules for Writers this one is not needed. He has a freebie for one late paper out of three total built into his syllabus. It says he wont accept late work for regular assignments but he will work with you if you actually need it, but don't abuse it. He actually cares about his students.

He is a good teacher that gives a lot of feedback. There are a lot of assignments in the class, but usually if you do them, you'll get full credit. This class has three essays and overall these three make up 65% of your grade, which is expected for an english class, so be prepared for those. The only downside of this class is the amount of reading.
