Dr. Pagels is an interesting character. I mean he is pretty funny sometimes but he can be taken the wrong way. His tests are a given if you write down whatever he says. In my opinion, his tests should reflect more of what VNH is about and not the little words and what not. I still dont know what VNH is...just random topics we had to learn

This man is so unclear it is impossible to make and A unless you already took he course and have his old tests. He makes zero sense and has a very offensive sense of humor. He makes joke that are very inappropriate at a school with a huge international program.

Don't ask questions or you will be completely ridiculed. He thinks he is very clear when in reality he mumbles and mixes up terms. His slides look ridiculous and make no sense. he is rude and does not help at all. Do yourself a favor and take another elective that are much better ones than this.

Write down every word he says, memorize all of them, and you'll be fine. I was caught off guard with the first test: don't let that happen to you! He knows his stuff and is funny, I enjoyed his class a lot.

VNH.. bottom line, if u r a good note taker, and you memorize all his notes by heart, u may make a low B on his exams. He doesnt let anyone go to his office hour, and if u ask him a ques in class, he'll make u feel stupid. Thats all

Dr. Pagels rules. i love his sense of humor and the way he teaches is easy to understand. DO NOT TAKE VNH LAB! it is almost twice as much memorization for tests as the actual class is itself. it is a very difficult lab with Dr Pagels. The only reason i did semi descent in the lab is because i really like Dr. Pagels. Take the lecture but not the lab

you don't need the book, but you do need to come to class. He's a fair guy when it comes to grading but he expects you to know your stuff, his exams come from his notes. sometimes he goes off subject for a little bit, but that's only cause he's done so much, but he knows his stuff.

Great professor who doesn't have a problem clarifying any issues or helping after class. You know what to expect. On the side, he's friendly and usually has a decent joke every class. Good stuff.

Often not clear, likes to ramble about trips he took to New Orleans and crap. Exams require a ton of memorization. Expect to do a LOT of studying because there's no book - missing even one class will murder your grade.

This course was interesting to go to, he doesnt use a text so you have to make sure you go to class. It was pretty easy, he makes it seem like the tests are going to be hard but if you know your stuff and take good notes, you will be alright. He's pretty funny sometimes too. Good course
